Attorney or Swine?

Mr. Pigg took my case while I was incarcerated. I contacted him 3x.The first was the day after an was released requesting my paperwork because I was not provided anything about my case. The second time, I contacted him to ask him was I on probation because Audrey at the protective order division said... I didn’t qualify for a protective order because I’m on probation, which he lied about. I called him and he responds with “ that doesnt sound right and well deferred adjudication ,it’s sort of like probation.Blah, blah, blah. He failed to be honest about the facts of the case or what I requested. Even after I was released, I found other things he said to be untrue when consulting with other attorneys. I requested a court date and he said he could get me one & returns lying about what the judge said, offering his opinion that” the person may not show up for trial. He said everything he could to deter me from pleading not guilty. We had to stand before the judge over 5 times because I plead not guilty. He would say I’m not getting out if I do, which I was okay with and I told him that. He states “ I’m glad to see you sticking to your guns about not being guilty. I’ll try to get a trial, not trying to judge the guy, but it’s obvious he is a deadbeat.” I agree he is a deadbeat, but to tell me his opinion, disregard my request, dispose of the case in a way I disagreed with initially by changing legal jargon I’m not familiar with is nothing less than legal malpractice. I can’t get a protective order, I have a false charge on my record and am still being harassed & threatened, by a schizophrenic without legal remedies. He coerced me into making a false plea when I constantly said I was not guilty. He gave me erroneous information about the plea, which I found to be untrue when I was released, which is why it took him over a month to mail me the paperwork about my case. He waited too long to mail me paperwork so I’m left without remedy and I ask him can he request retrial. He laughs and says “ I am not going to do it for free. I probably would have been better off having no attorney than one who so busy trying to receive rave reviews at the expense of another’s injustice and his integrity. He was not honest and appeared to be empathetic when he could care less about the case. He just wanted me to plead guilty and be done with the case, which is also why he tried every attempt for to not set a court date. A n African American woman, desiring good legal representation should be expected, but she should not have to be coerced into pleading guilty to ANY or a lesser charge if innocent, just because she is not financially able to hire another attorney. High moral standards, turpitude and integrity should never be sacrificed at the expense of anothers rights.

Dear Anonymous: Out of respect for your privacy, I will not refer to you by name, but I thank you for taking the time to post a review on Avvo. You were brought to court on the jail chain and I was appointed to represent you. You stated that you wanted to get out of jail that day. I asked you if you could make bail. You said you could not. I asked the court to release you on a personal recognizance bond. The court declined to do so because of the nature of your offense. I then explained to you that the only way to get out that day was to either make bail or plea. You stated you were not guilty. I asked you if you wanted to go to trial. You said you did but that you wanted to get out of jail that day. I again explained to you that you would either have to make bail or plea in order to get out that day. I further explained that if you wanted to go to trial, you would have to wait in jail for a trial date. You did not want to do that. After going before the judge on three occasions, you finally entered a plea and were released from jail. You asked for your paperwork. As a courtesy to you, I offered to mail it. You gave me an address. The mail was returned. Some months later, you called me and said you wanted to withdraw your guilty plea. I explained to you that I was court appointed on your case and that appointment was over when you entered your plea. I further explained that if you wanted to withdraw your plea and have me as your attorney, that you would have to hire me and I would have to be paid. You became angry and hung up the phone. I regret that you are dissatisfied with my services. However, your case was resolved according to your direction. I wish you the best of luck in your future. Sincerely, William A. Pigg

Dear Zach: Thank you for taking the time to post a review on Avvo. As laid out in our correspondence to you on June 25, 2019, our firm spent 8.7 attorney hours on your case and 11.3 paralegal hours, for a total of 20 hours. Our attorneys attended court in Rockwall County for you on three occasions, without being fully paid to do so. Moreover, our attorneys protected your legal rights with the court system before we withdrew from your case – again without being fully paid to do so. Despite the clear terms of our contract, you breached same on 4 separate occasions. We gave you 3 opportunities to make good on your obligations to us. You failed to do so. Despite having no obligation to do so, we refunded you 1/6 of your retainer. Accordingly, we wound up representing you at a financial loss. While I regret you are disappointed with our services, I am sure you can understand why we withdrew from your representation. Best of luck, William A. Pigg
