Kelly A. Carter has lived in Dallas, Texas for more than 20 years. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Harding University and quickly followed up by earning a Masters of Political Science from the University of North Texas.

His goal had always been to use this academic background as a means to attend law school and serve the Dallas area community as a trial attorney. However, since the United States was at war, he placed his law school application on hold and decided to serve his country in the fight against global terrorism.

At the age of 25, he joined the United States Air Force and served on active-duty for over eight years. He began his military service by undergoing rigorous flight training at Naval Air Station Pensacola and after receiving his wings, he was stationed back in Texas as a B-1B Bomber Weapon Systems Officer. He deployed overseas numerous times, and spent almost two combined years combating terrorists in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Syria.

Kelly never gave up on fulfilling his long-term goal of becoming a trial attorney. Immediately after fulfilling his active-duty commitment, he was accepted to Southern Methodist University, Dedman School of Law. At SMU, he gained valuable trial advocacy experienceKelly A. Carter is originally from Southern Illinois where he graduated from Belleville Township High School East. The military was an important part of his life at this point but Kelly never gave up on fulfilling his long-term goal of becoming a trial attorney. Immediately after fulfilling his active-duty commitment, he was accepted to Southern Methodist University, Dedman School of Law. At SMU, he gained valuable trial advocacy experience and obtained legal victories for clients in the prestigious VanSickle Family Law Clinic. After graduation he spent more than two years as an Assistant Criminal District Attorney where he sharpened his courtroom skills by pleading and trying a vast number of criminal cases.

After his time at the DA's office, Kelly made the decision to bring his significant experience to the service of the Dallas and North Texas community. Kelly A. Carter has a proven track record of grace under stressful conditions and success in the courtroom. The most valuable experience that he has gained, however, is a deep empathy for people that have been accused of crimes and are concerned about how consequences of a conviction will affect their families and their futures. He uses this empathy as motivation to forcefully advocate for his clients and this passion for justice has helped him become one of the most successful trial attorneys in North Texas.

Old Speeding Tickets Dismissed
Kelly helped me get a few old Kaufman County (Terrell) speeding tickets and a couple of other traffic tickets dismissed. I only had to pay one of several. He saved me so much money. I highly recommend him.

Best Criminal Lawyer in Collin County!
Kelly Carter is the best criminal lawyer in Collin County that money can buy! During an already difficult time in my life as a victim of family violence, I ended up being charged with Assault Causing Bodily Injury to a Family Member instead of the person who actually committed domestic violence. Thanks to Carter Criminal Defense, we were able to provide video evidence showing that I was the victim and not the perpetrator. I was concerned with the arrest and the case appearing on public records even though I was the victim so I asked him about getting it expunged. He had already worked it out to be set up as a nondisclosure. I cannot thank him enough for helping me clear my name and redirect justice to wear it was due — the abuser. I highly recommend Kelly as a criminal defense lawyer.
