About Byron

Biography

Probate, Contract, Real Estate and Business Disputes resolved by negotiation and litigation. Estate Planning.

Experienced litigators can make the difference in achieving a settlement without the costs of trial.

Probate is usually non-contested, but when it is, an experienced litigator can make the difference.

If you do not have a Will, the State of Texas directs how your estate will be distributed which may be contrary to your wishes.

The Texas Probate Code provides a number of ways to handle the affairs of a deceased person, including the transfer of title to property to the heirs of the deceased. If the deceased had a Will, often the most practical choice is to probate the Will; however, if there is no Will, other options short of full court supervised administration are examined to determine the most practical and cost effective procedure.

My litigation practice includes civil litigation in all State and Federal courts. I endeavor to resolve a dispute in the early stages of the case before attorney fees rise to a level that impedes resolution. These efforts are made through early attempts at settlement through the mediation process and through dispositive motions which may win the case without the cost of a trial.

My estate planning practice includes preparing your Last Will and Testament, Durable Power of Attorney, Medical Power of Attorney, Directive to Physicians (Living Will); Disposition of Remains and Designation of Guardian. At the time of execution of your estate planning documents, we also discuss practical estate planning options which allow some or all of your estate to pass outside of probate.

A True Advocate

I have been living abroad for 11 years. I had to rely on the Internet to find an attorney in Dallas, TX. I read Byron Woolley´s reviews on AVVO and sent him an email to which he promptly replied. I could not believe it! I wrote to about 20 lawyers in a 15-day period. I also made calls. Only one... other lawyer took my call and honestly, was pretty rude. I set up a telephone consultation with Byron and it was like we had known each other from the days when I lived in Dallas, TX. He was everything everyone had said in their reviews. Soft spoken, well mannered, unassuming, listens calmly, evaluates your needs and gives you his professional opinion in such a way that even if it´s not what you expected or wanted to hear, you can see the reasoning behind it. He had the most calming effect on me and … I was a mess! Let´s face it, when we need a lawyer it´s because we have a problem and when we have a problem we appreciate a little sympathy. What lead me to Byron were reviews from clients of 20 and 25 years and now I know why.

Practical advice in a high conflict divorce

Byron helped me navigate a high conflict divorce from a Japanese national. He gave me excellent guidance on how to handle the settlement negotiations and was always available, even on weekends, to help neutralize my ex's tendency to escalate the conflict. Though my ex's attorney was featured in D M...agazine as one of Dallas' best divorce attorneys (and his rates were higher), I definitely had the better lawyer, which resulted in a much more favorable outcome than I expected. Thank you Byron.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
