Over nine years in education as a teacher and administrator
Deep down inside, I’ve always been an educator and advocate. Growing up, I always loved school and I was passionate about fairness, equality, and justice, too. It was those two loves that led me to my current practice. I believe that every educational opportunity and job experience (good and bad) has helped direct, train and prepare me for the practice that I have developed.
Growing up in East Austin, I learned that life isn’t always fair, but to adjust, adapt a move forward. Through the love and support of my family I was fortunate enough to graduate from Spelman College with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, Lamar University with a Master’s Degree in Education Administration, and Dedman School of Law at Southern Methodist University with a Juris Doctorate.
I worked for legal services for a brief period immediately after law school. Then, I used my legal training outside the practice of law. I worked in several other professions including human resources, retail management and nine years in education. I served in positions ranging from support staff to executive and engaged with both entry level employees and corporate leadership. During over twenty years of working in various roles there were two constants: I was either teaching or advocating in some manner.
After returning to the legal profession, I clerked at the Law Office of Faith Johnson where I worked on a variety of civil matters ranging from criminal law to probate. In addition, I worked for the Law Office of LaDonna Harlan practicing primarily family and criminal law. I also served as Of Counsel providing family law, probate and estate planning expertise to Dallas area firms.
Promoting strong families is the basis of my family law practice. Whether it involves a divorce or just a temporary separation, I work to obtain the best outcome for each individual family. In today’s society, a quality education is just as important as a strong family. That is why I work with families to advocate for educational needs in the school system and protect legal rights of juveniles in the judicial system.
I am committed to providing legal services to those who need it because I believe that everyone should have access to legal representation. I provide pro bono services in limited circumstances and fees based on a sliding scale to accommodate all income levels.

I've hired her twice
The first time that I hired her was for a ticket. She was knowledgeable, patient and thorough. She aggressively pursued the outcome I sought and obtained the end result I wanted. I was so pleased that I hired her again. She just completed drafting several estate planning documents for me. Again,...

Inexperienc comes with a great cost
I hired Kenetra to help me get over the final hurdles of a nasty divorce where I was eventually denied complete access of my children in spite of having visitation orders in place. To make a long story short, Kenetra charged 250$ an hour (outrageous for her experience) and did a horrible job during o...
