shortcut and ripoff

My mother paid this man almost $4000 for a simple name change, which was not completed! He filed the EXACT SAME paperwork that she could have filed HERSELF online for free. All of the stuff that was written in the contract was NOT performed, nor was the work that his original assistant Darla, follow...ed. His new assistant has completely changed the game as far as his original work ethic was concerned, and for this i will never be recommending his firm again! Way to lose a huge fan Gregg!

Tragedy struck and it got worse from there

We were influenced by reviews and therefore wanted to add ours here to help those of you searching to make a better decision than we did. Our case had to do with obtaining managing conservatorship over our grandchildren after a tragic car accident killed our daughter. We tried to handle the legal f...ilings ourselves through the court, but the judge advised us to get a lawyer to better handle the complexities. We searched online and selected this law firm mainly due to its dealings with the designated courthouse and reviews. Once we met with the attorney, he said all the right things that made us feel like the case would have the urgency that we felt. We signed the paperwork and sent in our retainer so we could get started right away. From that point on it was a nightmare. Specifically, the issues consisted of little to no communication unless we initiated it, egregious mistakes on paperwork, unprofessionalism and no urgency. Once we realized this, we decided it was not working and fired them. We even sent the lawyer a list of constructive criticism based on our experience to help them with future clients. He completely dismissed it and even said that was not the way he saw things. In fact, after obtaining zero results on our case this firm charged us almost the entire retainer! Yes, that’s right and in hindsight it really felt like they only wanted to bill every penny they could instead of focusing on completing the case. We are grandparents just trying to do the right thing for our grandkids and feel taken advantage of. This is why we wanted to get our experience out there as a warning to those of you searching for a firm to handle your case. We made a terrible choice here and don’t want you to do the same. We have retained a new firm and could not be happier as the experience has been a night and day difference. I only wish we would have started there and not had to go through this nightmare and complete waste of money and time.

Do not even consider Gregg Gibbs

Hired him at the recommendation of another attorney. He talked a big game in our initial consultation. He told me that he would make sure that my wife would not be able to take my daughter out of the area. He told me that he was going to make sure that I got my half of the community property. Aft...er 5 months and 4 paralegals, my case had been sitting idle. I met with two of his paralegals in person for 1 and 2 hours respectively. I had a 1-hour phone converstion with another. We went over the divorce decree and my counter to it. All three times it was the exact same discussion and I was billed for all three discussions. Nothing was done on my case until a few weeks before trial. My counter was not sent to my ex-wife's attorney until the final paralegal came to work on it. By then it was too late to avoid a trial. I had to come up with another $7,500 to go to trial (which we never did) and basically got what we agreed on in the first place. 20 minutes before the trial, we had to negotiate the last bit of the decree. I was in no emotional state to make any decisions. He convinced me that my daughter would grow up to resent me if I didn't let her and her mother move to Austin and start a new life. He showed no interest in going to trial and fighting for my rights. Yes, the decisions were mine to make but 20 minutes to make a life altering decision? BS. he had 9 months to discuss the options with me and let me mull it over. I made a rash decision at the last minute because of his lack of support and representation. STAY AWAY AND DON'T LOOK BACK.

Just, don't.

Greg spoke a big game and I took the bait. I paid him a heavy price for a retainer on a misdemeanor DWI charge and thought he could possibly get in with the court system and work some magic with the courts to get it either dismissed or at the very least reduced since my BAC was half of the legal limi...t and I didn't even have the car moving. He did not show up for most of my court appearances including the ARL. 6 months suspended DL and occupational DL. Embarrassing. Fast forward a few months and he called two days prior to the plea agreement court date with news that my case is great for a dismissal but that it would be $10,000 past this point, non-refundable even if the case was dismissed prior to trial. The prosecutor offered 18 months of probation, fines, community service, the works. I don't even have a speeding ticket on my record. Greg did not go to bat for me to negotiate a better plea bargain that fit my situation. I asked Greg how many DWI cases he has had taken on and to my surprise he said a hand full and lost one. What kind of criminal defense lawyer only has a hand full of experience with DWI proceedings and lost one? Not a solid batting average. I wish I asked that question prior to throwing him the initial, non-refundable, overpriced retainer. With the absolute lack of communication from him and consistent no-shows, I decided to fold. Not on my case, but with Greg. I immediately called a different attorney (B) and had a meeting arranged within 24 hours of the first call. Attorney B promised to communicate details with me regarding the case and he lived up to his promise. His price to take on the case was half of what Greg offered and he, not Greg, actually specialized in DWIs. Spoiler alert, the case was dismissed, and attorney B refunded half of the cost since there was no trial. So for a quarter of the cost of what Greg offered past the plea, I am free and clear. If I could rate Greg 0/5 stars, I would. Hire at your own risk, or just, don't.

Horrible

Do not Hire!!! Another person wrote that it's as if he's on the prosecutors staff. Bam! He hit the nail on the coffin. I guess once a cop, always a cop, that mentality never goes away. After paying him thousands and thousands, he railroaded me, after talking a big game in his office, he got me the ma...ximum sentence allowed!! He didn't even try ,and come to find out that he could've had it reduced to a misdemeanor, he just chose not to. On top of this he didn't even get me deferred adjudication until demanded it. He then tried to scare me into not doing deferred. Overall just a terrible terrible defense attorney , definitely does not have his clients best interest at hand. Thankfully 4 years later, after many headaches and lots of money, a wonderful REAL DEFENSE attorney in McKinney actually did his job and saved the day !! thanks Kyle Shaw!! He's the real deal
