Stephanie Askew

Stephanie Askew is the owner of Askew Legal, located in Flower Mound, TX. She specializes in Guardianships, Estate Planning and Trusts, Collaborative Law divorces, Business Entity Formation and Regulatory and Licensing Law. Her philosophy is that there are usually fairly simple methods to prevent or mitigate even the most contentious legal situation. To that end, she endeavors to make the legal process as simple as possible for her clients, preventatively protects her clients’ interests, and utilizes creative legal strategy to avoid litigation where possible.

EXPERIENCE: She has prosecuted and defended criminal cases, represented parties in divorces, bankruptcies and other civil matters, planned estates, was an attorney advisor to the Small Business Administration Office of Disaster Assistance, and was in house counsel and head of compliance for a mortgage company. She has worked across many levels of government including positions with Governor Ann Richards, State Representative Ray Allen where she worked on the concealed carry bill and with Governor George W. Bush's legislative team, U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison, and the Arlington City Attorney.

EDUCATION: Ms. Askew received her Bachelor of Arts degree with a double major in Government and History from the University of Texas at Austin in 1996. In 2005, she received her Doctorate of Jurisprudence from Texas Wesleyan School of Law, now Texas A&M School of Law, where she was a member of Law Review and attended on Dean’s Scholarship.

PROFESSIONAL, CIVIC AND PHILANTHROPIC ORGANIZATIONS: Ms. Askew currently chairs the Highland Village Ethics Board, is secretary of American Legion Auxiliary Unit 88, serves on the board for Cloud 9 Charities, and is a member of the Highland Village Women's Club. She is a member of the State Bar of Texas and is a member of its Collaborative Law and Real Estate Probate and Trust sections. She is also a member of the Denton County Bar Association and of its Family and Real Estate Probate and Trust sections.
