Not-Guilty

“You have enemies? Good. That means you have stood up for something, sometime in your life.” - Sir Winston Churchill Greetings!! After 27+ months, countless futile trips to the Tarrant County Courthouse, thousands of dollars, lost sleep, false accusations, refusals to validate my state of... mourning, etc. It’s finally OVER. It took the jury 45 minutes or so to unanimously move for acquittal. Ye Ha!!! (Happy Dance Inserted Here) To quote Tom Petty - "I stood my ground and I won’t (didn’t) back down." It is so relieving and healing to have this off my shoulders and to be able to move past this horrible event and be validated for what I have known all along. I am innocent. First, I would like to extend my most humble heart felt and enormous gratitude to my attorneys, Mr. Scott Palmer and Ms. Rebekah Perlstein. A seriously potent pair - the Paragon of Justice exemplified. To quote MC Hammer - “You Can’t Touch This!” Me - "Really! You can’t." Ms. Rebekah, when I grow-up I want to be just like you. Your intelligence, knowledge of the law and proper procedure was superb. Your use of words was imperceptible to your prey and they never saw you coming around for the kill. The real estate controlled by you in the Courtroom was stunning. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Mr. Scott, I think Ms. Rebekah’s nickname should be “Velo,” short for Velociraptor. ;-) Scott, what can I say? I’ve pissed you off (don’t lie) and you’ve pissed me off, yet you SO had my back (like my orthotics) ;-). I apologize for each and every offensive word spoken or left unspoken by me. At the end of the day, you were spot-on. You kept me focused, refused to let me digress, and in Court, you used the phrase, “Red Herring.” An aha moment for me. What a perfect analogy to describe my thoughts of how month after month, I was required to appear in Court, and how month after month on end I was sent home without the satisfaction of being allowed to tell my story. With flawed thinking, I failed to include you or your practice as feeling the same deflation as myself. In that, you too were experiencing the same missed opportunity to advocate on my behalf. Another apology I owe to you. The first time we met you seemed intrigued and wanted to know more. You asked pointed and direct questions. You expected the truth from me and would not accept less. After collecting and viewing the videos amply supplied by the very Police who arrested and charged me, you became more entrenched in the truth and a staunch advocate of my innocence. Tenacious to a fault, you never gave up on me or kicked me under the bus. You’d say get your “s_ _ t” together, get some sleep, and let’s go get ‘em. Your abilities as both a counselor and litigator are nothing short of sterling; as well, your palpable presence in the courtroom was compelling, engaging, and frightening (if I were on the opposing side). I was so happy that you were on MY SIDE. With heart, intelligence, compassion, power, fearlessness, fortitude, and presence you owned the Courtroom in its entirety, from curb to curb. Thank you is not a strong enough phrase to express everything I want to convey, but I believe you understand me enough to “cut to the chase.” :-)

Federal Case facing many years!!!

Attorney Scott Palmer plays chess, not checkers. When I think of reviews, it short changes the actual experience as words on a page can not account nor reflect the diligence, time, effort, resolve and tenacity that legal proceedings entails. It's an exhausting process that requires a solid team to se...e you through. Our family found that in Attorney Scott Palmer. He is more than a review, he is an experience. His years of experience are reflected in the quality of work he produces. He has tact, know how, humility and respect for the law. His valuable skill is one that is not seen in the courts often. Some lawyers you come across, they are seeking something from you and seem heartless towards your family, loved one and the process. I have to say, Attorney Palmer and his team have walked through this entire process with us. Mourned this transition and were delicate in approach; they did not mishandle our family. He is an amazing lawyer-negotiator who sought to leave all parties to include my family feeling like a reasonable outcome was achieved, rather than trying to run over the opposition. This did not mean that he got us less than what we were seeking but a fair outcome and one my family could feel good about the outcome. He managed expectations and has a warrior spirit. I know it seems cliche but he is definitely a ruby amongst gems. We chose him because he has put in the hours in and out of court; years of federal court experience and challenges of appearing in front of United States District Court Judges within our District; even know how with respect for the newest Judge sworn into the bench. Attorney Palmer understands people, personalities and the peculiarities of each judge. Some judges place more weight on emotion; others on the facts. He can differentiate. He is familiar with local, state and federal practice. He has defended many federal cases with efficiency, time, not over utilizing resources, centering the clients and families while reducing costs for all involved. I urge you to not hire a "good" Federal attorney, hire one with experience and proven successes. Hire Attorney Palmer. He has drafted correspondence, motions and briefs that are well-cited and well-written. He maintains a sense of decorum. He and his team get things done on time. He is confident and is prepared each time we see him. The top reason Attorney Palmer is a superb lawyer is his reasonable accessibility. He made himself available to us, and I did not have to beg him to talk with me. No matter the day or hour, he was responsive and he still is responsive; he has not abandoned us. He is flexible, reasonable, trust worthy and understanding. In the law world there is a saying "there's nothing more expensive than a cheap lawyer." Fortunately, I happen to agree; Attorney Scott Palmer will not take advantage of you or your resources. He has something that most attorneys lack, humility and his integrity precedes him.

Top-notch attorney who cares and fights for you!!!

Scott Palmer is a top-notch attorney. When your life turns into a real life “Lifetime Movie Drama” there is no better attorney to have on your side than Scott. Scott was recommended through one of my brother’s friends and after he took my call well after hours I knew he was the right man for the job.... Scott represented my young juvenile son who was charged with a felony. Due to unfortunate circumstances beyond our control my son was detained on a Friday and had to spend the weekend in juvenile detention. Scott took time out of his weekend to call and check on him every day and then relay the information back to me to let me know he was ok. Scott put me in touch with the right people so that we could get my son out of detention first thing Monday morning. Scott’s real skills showed in the courtroom; he knows the law and his client’s rights. Scott is fighter and fought hard for my son which ultimately ended in my son’s case being dismissed. If you are looking for an attorney who knows the law, is responsive, and who will fight for you, Scott is the attorney for you! I would also like to mention that Scott’s associate Rebekah is also top notch. Rebekah is detailed oriented and took the time to really understand and research my son’s case. Scott and Rebekah are a great team that I was glad to have on our side.

Courageous, Skillful and Effective!

I was referred to Scott as a potential defense attorney for my son, who had found himself in the middle of a very bad situation. Scott came highly recommeded by a trusted friend, we spoke for some time and I hired him on behalf of my son. He had very little time to familiarize himself with the case p...rior to the detention hearing and when he took the court room podium, I was absolutely certain we had hired an amazing attorney with polished skill. My son and I looked at each other in total amazement to the credibility that he demonstrated with his questioning and the methodical way he dismantled the Governments story. Who was once strong on the side of the Government, now sat with an agonizing look on their face, so as to say I'm done - it was amusing. He was meticulous in breaking apart their time lines, methods used to obtain warrants, pointing out violations of our Fourth Amendment, and boldly took on the Government in an appeals hearing. I always sat proudly from the first moment I heard him speak, examine and cross examine whomever was on the stand. He pulled out all stops for my son and me. We took some risks and they payed off. This is an attorney you can take chances with. With odds stacked against us, due to the Good Faith Exception, Scott brought fear and victory into the court room of appeals. He is someone that is caring, sensitive to individual situations and is not driven by money and instead he takes great pride in presenting a case that has the highest probability of winning. It was an absolute pleasure to watch him work. Other than the fact that my son found himself in trouble, I enjoyed watching the professionalism and skill that Scott brought to bear. I highly recommend Scott. I'm not an easy person to work with and he handled me with the same skill that he demonstarated in the court room. I also appreciated that he knows his limitations and when we needed an expert in the appeals arena he didn't hesitate to get the right people involved.

Outstanding!

Scott Palmer was absolutely excellent! As soon as we contacted him he was of immense help and support, he went to visit the my boyfriend the very next morning by 8am (and it was a Sunday morning) and we hired him that same day. He is extremely professional, caring, experienced, and a true fighter for... his clients. He did everything in his power to help us until the very last step. We were facing a sentence of a minimum of 10 years (possibly much more) and with Scott we were able to reduce that to a maximum of five years. Not only that, he filed a motion, fought for us in court and was able to get my boyfriend released and under home arrest all in just two weeks. His office staff and multiple attorneys at his law firm are all very welcoming and helpful as well. He is truly they best lawyer anyone can find. I cannot recommend him enough!
