Learn Peyton’s areas of practice.

Peyton Bowman graduated from the University of New Orleans with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, focusing on applied biopsychology and industrial psychology. From there, Peyton was accepted into Loyola University College of Law’s civil law division and graduated with her Juris Doctorate in May 2019. While in law school, Peyton participated in the Community Outreach Committee, Moot Court, and the Community Justice Law Clinic. Peyton has dedicated a large portion of her practice to serving low income clients with their legal needs, ranging from housing needs, discrimination in the workplace, and contract disputes. Peyton is also passionate about helping those members of the LGBTQ+ community with legally changing their names or gender markers. Today, Peyton’s practice is largely comprised of civil rights cases – police brutality, racial discrimination, gender discrimination, false arrests, and illegal searches and seizures, but she also has extensive experience in medical malpractice, corporate law, insurance disputes, and personal injury.
An expert in conducting focus groups for jury research, Peyton also conducts focus groups for her own firm and for firms across the country to better understand the unique and complex needs of each case before they go to trial.
Peyton is associated with the National Lawyers Guild, Louisiana Association for Justice, Lambda Legal Defense and Education Fund, Super Lawyers, and Million Dollar Advocates Forum. Peyton has also been nationally recognized by the American Institute of Trial Lawyers for her exceptional courtroom abilities and was awarded the Top 40 Under 40 award in 2020.

I hired Ms. Bowman for a police case. She actually listens to you and will do everything humanly possible to get you what you deserve. Most attorneys I spoke with brushed me off, spoke over me, and used a condescending tone. Not her. She will treat you like a human. Not only that, she is excellent at writing, speaking, and innovative strategy. It felt like the police attorneys were trying to wear her down with excessive work but she never seemed to tire and instead gave it right back. She is very accomplished and always professional and polished. It was a pleasure to work with her.

My lawyer is better than your lawyer
I met Peyton while riding motorcycles funny enough. You don't see a lot of attorneys on a bike. Peyton helped me change my name and gender marker on my ID and birth certificate. She is very knowledgeable about LGBTQ laws and fights for the LGBT community. I tried to start the process on my own but it became clear early on I was in over my head. I lost a lot of sleep because I didn't feel validated and I felt like the process was stacked against me. Truly I could not have done this without her. I feel totally at peace that my identity is legally recognized and it's all because of her hard work. Going into an attorneys office and seeing trans rights art on the wall was super cool in a way I can't describe. Knowing she had my back and will always have my back moving forward is everything!

A blessing!
I needed help when the police were harassing me due to my race and falsely arrested me. She explained everything to me very well and fought for me to get justice. My attorney actually listened to me and believed in me. Had them at every turn. Very blessed to have crossed paths and wouldn't be where I am without her. The courts sysem took a long time but my family is happy.

Very helpful
I called a bunch of law firms to get advice about my case and miss Peyton was the only lawyer to help me. She talked to me for a long time about what I needed to do and gave me good advice for free.
