Donald George D'Aunoy Jr

I had an auto accident on March 13, 2020, during which I suffered catastrophic injuries. On March 18, 2020, I hired Mr. D' Aunoy Jr. as my attorney. Immediately a problem emerged. My attorney refused to file a claim in court despite my numerous requests to do so, without explanation. Only in re...sponse to a written threat of dismissal, he did so during the last day of December. According to our contract, my attorney was supposed to receive 33.3% of "the amount recovered before the deduction of "costs and expenses". Mr. D' Aunoy has never revealed what exactly expenses he had in mind until June 10, 2021, when he had received a settlement offer from the defendants. Then and only then, he has explained via email that he had in mind medical expenses, thus violating a clause in our contract that no party to the agreement can amend the contract "without consent of ...the client". Thus, Mr. D' Aunoy deceived me. My attorney manipulated me into receiving medical services (MRI worth $3, 000 at 33% interest) and costly physical therapy, although I could have received physical therapy at my health club for a mere $57 a month. He insisted on my going to doctors and physical therapists to document my injuries because, he claimed, "nobody will believe you". Today deception became obvious. The purpose of his "legal" advice was to inflate medical expenses in order to increase his take in any compensation for my injuries and diminish mine. Mr. D' Aunoy repeatedly refused to send me the defendant's settlement offer, thus denying me an opportunity to make an informed choice. He has attempted to sell me for $13.50 the police report of the accident that I had sent him last year free of charge. He loaned me $3,000.00 at the 33% rate of interest to pay for the MRI procedure without my knowledge or request. The same goes for $500.00 for filing the lawsuit and for $400.00 at 33% interest for the Orthopedic Evaluation Deposit, without my knowledge and permission. Also, Mr. D'Aunoy charged me for bills he received from my medical providers - the documents that I had received from them free of charge. Because I was very unhappy with the way my attorney handled my case, I repeatedly asked him to step aside. He ignored my requests. So, I terminated him on Sept. 30. Also, I have filed a complaint against him with the Lousiana Attorney Disciplinary Board. Mr. D'Aunoy was ignoring my wishes consistently, thus ignoring the primacy of the client's interests. His preferred medium of communication was silence. He showed no morals. He was afraid of going to trial. I was relieved by his departure.
