Avoid this Attorney and Firm

I hired David Martin when my then current divorce attorney expressed her blossoming love for opposing counsel during a court hearing. David and I, in the presence of Caitlin McPartland (an attorney he said he was "training") met in his office on September 10, 2024 and agreed I would pay on a "best... effort" basis monthly when billed, until I received my social security back pay I had been expecting for years. He agreed to represent me and believed he could get my divorce concluded quickly. I agreed to pay my balance current when I received my back pay. I informed David and Caitlin in an email on 9/20/24 I had received my back pay. Beginning on 9/24/24, Caitlin began attempting to get me into their office again for a meeting to review interrogatories. I was told I had to physically be present as my signature had to be notarized. I didn't have a car at that time and an in-office meeting was both expensive and inconvenient. I spent $100 to Uber there and home. We reviewed the interrogatories - took 5 minutes. David then told me I needed to convey my social security backpay to him for "safekeeping." I immediately felt threatened by his plea. I emailed him the next day, letting him know how very uncomfortable his demand left me. Caitlin emailed me back acknowledging David's "presentation was less than ideal." David then drafted a contrived bill for $7500 for two weeks of work at a bill rate I didn't agree to. Without asking him to, he "discounted" it to $4500 threatening me, in an email, to withdraw if I didn't pay. I had been his client for 16 days at that point. $7500. For a handful of phone calls and a few email? Caitlin did the work. I hired David. I paid his bill. Two months later, absolutely no movement on my case whatsoever. From the moment Dave made his plea for my $53,000 I felt as though I wasn't represented. Turns out, I had to fire him and hire another lawyer to get my divorce done. David Martin wasted my time and a lot of my money. I feel entirely betrayed by this attorney. (AVVO: If you want to see/hear the facts, tell me where to send the emails, bills and call recordings to.)
