Charles L. Rutter (Charlie) serves as one of the Firm’s Senior Associate and Onboarding Attorneys. Charlie has 25 years of legal expertise. Throughout his career, he has served as General Counsel for various construction companies and has been a member of several startups. Early in his career, he also served as both a State Prosecutor and Assistant Attorney General, and as a Business Litigation Associate at the national law firm of Stinson, LLP. Before practicing law, he held a secret clearance while working at the Pentagon in the Air Force’s Strategic Planning and Programming Directorate. Charles is licensed to practice law in Kansas.
Education & Experience
Charlie earned his J.D. from the Washburn University School of Law in Topeka, KS, and his B.S. degree in Life Sciences from Kansas State University.
Awards & Associations
While attending law school, Charlie received a law merit scholarship and maintained Dean’s Honors. During undergraduate school, he received both a theatrical and a baseball scholarship.
Personal Life
Charlie currently resides in Lawrence, Kansas, and Denver, Colorado. He is active in his community, school, and church. In his spare time, he enjoys running, fishing, skiing, trail riding, and spending time with his family of six. He is an avid fly fisherman and alpine ski racer.

His company was thorough and trustworthy; phone calls were timely returned and the job was done right.

Even if your goal is to avoid court, he thinks like a litigator and is prepared for court if need be.
