Having suffered severe injustice at an airline in bankruptcy, I came to understand the value of legal representation in the earliest stages of difficulties. As a Legal Shield member since January 2017, I have relied on a number of attorneys on several occasions. This time, a condo building neig...hbor violated me publicly. I consulted with a criminal defense attorney who analyzed my case and assured me I was not in trouble. Unfortunately, the neighbor later escalated his violations to a point where this attorney referred me to Tim O'Keefe. Tim explained legal procedure and analysis in the detail only learned through experience. It is important to state that even though I could have found information on courthouse websites (had I known to go to them), I would have never been able to navigate the process myself. I did not know how to evaluate alternative courses of action or what they were. We decided on a civil protective order. Tim helped me complete the relevant paperwork, accompanied me to the courthouse, and we both handed it to the correct clerk. A judge looked it over privately and denied, to my dismay. I am now completely convinced that DIY'ing legal representation is a fool's errand. There are so many variables in our legal system that even retaining an attorney is not a guarantee of a certain outcome. Eventually, I had to close my case to avoid throwing good money after bad. My situation has been part of ongoing difficulty for the past 20-plus years; I am confident that justice will one day be served. Tim's acumen, manner, and experience are impressive.
