Fast, professional, and so easy to work with

I hired Dan Romine to represent me for a traffic ticket I got road tripping. The ticket was in a county more than 2 hours drive away, and I would have had to take off work to appear in court. His prices were very fair, and he kept me informed every step of the way. I was impressed by how friendly and... knowledgeable he was - he took care of everything! I didn't have to go anywhere, I didn't get ANY points on my license, and I didn't have to worry messing it up myself. I hope I don't get any more tickets... But if I do, I would definitely hire him again.

Consider your options before hiring

I want to start this off with he might be a good lawyer for some cases, but be very careful what you select him for. In January, due to icy and untreated roads, I slid through an intersection with a stop sign. Unfortunately, another vehicle was coming and it hit mine broadside. The good news: they we...ren't injured. The bad: I got a ticket. The punishment for running a stop sign as a class C misdemeanor. My husband thought I should fight the ticket. So I consulted springfieldtraffictickets.com. The first person I talked to, don't know his position there, told me yes they handled cases like mine and Romine most likely could have it knocked down to a non-moving violation. There was a chance of probation, but because it happened in Stone County, it wasn't that bad. Romine told the court he was representing me after I paid half his fee upfront. A court date was scheduled for April. A court date was scheduled for May. When June rolled around, I called because I didn't understand why this was taking so long. His reviews say he handles cases quickly. Romine said that it wasn't anything to worry about because the case wasn't that old. And the Stone County prosecutor is slow at making decisions. Except that I have extreme anxiety and I wanted it over with. He said that the prosecutor promised to call him by the end of the week. If he didn't, then he would call the following week to see what the prosecutor decided but it was looking like SIS. I had no idea what that meant. The internet only offers vague information. A month and ten days passed with no word. The day before the next court date, I called to say I'd be in court because I'm done with this. I met with Romine who seemed thrilled that the prosecutor was offering SIS. I still didn't understand it beyond it's some kind of probation. I didn't want probation. I wanted the ticket gone. The other party was paid by my insurance. I didn't have anything on my record. There's no reason I should have to take any punishment. He said it wasn't going to happen. So I told him he needed to tell his people that telling a client he could get it dropped was a lie. Not quite three months before my ticket, a car pulled out in front of the car my husband was driving. It was a bad wreck. Our car flipped onto its side and skidded 60 feet. There was a lot of blood and a couple of broken bones involved. The guy was driving his girlfriend's car and neither had insurance. The prosecutor of that county asked for all kind of information to convict the guy who caused the wreck. The guy didn't hire a lawyer. He was finally given an SIS for two years. He caused massive suffering and trauma. Again, the other party in my wreck was paid for damages by my insurance. They weren't hurt. I didn't have any prior tickets on my driving record. And I was forced to take a year of SIS. I could've saved myself $500, but when the person on the phone is trying to scare you into giving them money by telling you $500 is cheap compared to your car insurance going up, and that this lawyer can probably get it dropped to a non-moving violation, it sounds like a good deal. Just do yourself a favor and look at your options because I feel like Romine didn't even try to help me.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
