Stacey Janssen

I should have been forewarned when she didn’t show up to our first meeting. She called and said she thought it was a Zoom meeting and was on her way. We waited for 40 minutes. I was told to come to our first meeting with two packets of papers filled out. She didn’t mention costs but came up with a pl...an of action that was never followed through on. We were told to send in a retainer for $1,000 and less than a week later it was raised to $1,500. We were told they would petition the court by Wednesday. I kept having to track her and her assistant down. I was told it was because she’s so good at what she does she’s in high demand. On Friday they finally returned my call to tell me they’d lost all of our paperwork. By this time our needs changed and I told them because they’re never available and unprofessional to lose all our paperwork we’re going to go with another lawyer. They did nothing for us and now they won’t return our retainer.

I am reaching out in hopes that no one is treated the way that my family and I were by Ms. Stacey Janssen. When I read a review that said "run don't walk away from this lawyer” I did not understand given her credentials. I should have taken that to heart and ran… It would have saved us a great amount... of time (over a month) and our families situation would not have escalated. If our elder law case was too complex, it should have been addressed with us earlier, nothing was said. She was negligent and unprofessional from the beginning and treated us like we were an inconvenience. She was dishonest and evasive we considered she might be working for the other side of our case. Because of the minimal communication (at best) and excuses from Ms. Janssen our family wasted time we did not have in the first place and did absolutely nothing for our case. After repeated calls and emails she simply replied with, “I don’t seem to have any calls from you”, (other countless excuses/lies). Her secretary assured me she was delivering the calls and messages to Stacey (her, I believe). I cannot understand why someone would agree to take on clients and all she had to do was send a simple letter requesting accountings. We had family counting on us to have legal support, now we are starting from the beginning. My family and I are beyond frustrated, and we are still in shock at the lack of integrity and professionalism. Run don’t walk away from Stacey Janssen.

Run, don't walk away from this lawyer who acts more like 1970s Roller Derby bully than a professional Elder lawyer. My family hired Stacey to draw up a living will/trust for my mother and she rarely made eye contact with my mother, but rather listened more to my sister and me. Upon revisiting her t...o review and update my mother's trust, Stacey allowed a colleague to interrupt us twice about an unrelated sporting matter and threw a temper tantrum because we asked if a few things could be changed. After giving no explanation for her sudden anger, she kicked my sister, me, and our 86-year old mother out of her office! Don't hire Stacey!

I hired Stacey for a simple, elective, but important family matter. I told her exactly what I wanted done and my conditions for moving forward (or else I would chose to drop the entire matter and not go to court). She left my mandatory condition out of the petition and it was not even considered by... the Judge. Had I known this would happen, I would have walked away and not done anything. I even reminded her of my condition while waiting for the judge seat himself. She decided what should be done in this family matter, not me. And later acted as if she never knew of my mandatory condition for moving forward.

I was chosen as POA and needed to file for Medicaid. Not knowing what I was doing, I was referred to Stacey. It was the best decision I made. She handled all of the paperwork and filed it for me and I finally could SLEEP at night not worrying! Stacy Janssen is the BEST one could get for handling ...all of this mess for elder care! Her assistant - Tammy_ is wonderful also!
