Most of my career has been devoted to representing individuals who were injured or killed in railroad grade crossing collisions where motorists are hit by trains. Common causes of the collisions are the railroad's failure to sound a horn warning, to clear its right of way to provide an adequate sightline to the motorist, to install flashing lights or automatic gates, and to brake the the train to avoid the collision. These incidents occur nationwide, requiring a multi-jurisdictional practice.

More recently, trucking collision litigation has also become a part of my practice. Truckers are paid by the mile and have every incentive to speed, to short-cut the required equipment inspections and to work beyond the federal hours-of-service requirements in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations. The log books where the truckers log their hours are often inaccurate.
