Having a dad in politics, spirited debate was the norm around Shawn Foster’s household. This early influence and the desire to make a difference in the world pulled Shawn out of his hometown and into the field of plaintiffs law. 

Shawn Foster has a clear vision of his purpose as a lawyer:  “When you give everyone a voice and give people power, the legal system usually ends up in a really good place. So, what I view my role as, is making sure the legal system is freely accessible to everyone and giving people that voice and that power.”

Having a father in politics, spirited debate was the norm around Shawn’s household.  This early influence and the desire to make a difference for people with whom he perceived as not having an equal voice, eventually pulled Shawn out of his hometown and into the practice of law.

Shawn spent his first three years of practice representing insurance companies and their insureds, as well as fortune 500 companies throughout the United States.  This gave Shawn first hand insight into how un-level the playing field can be if injured victims don’t have an experienced and successful team of attorneys representing them.  After his experience working with insurance companies, Shawn chose to dedicate the rest of his career to representing individuals that have been injured or wronged by someone else’s wrongdoing.

This choice allowed him to provide a voice and a level playing field for the individuals with whom he felt needed it the most.  Shawn loves the team atmosphere and collaboration at PFLAW and it has been a perfect fit for him.  “With the unlimited resources that insurance companies and fortune 500 companies have at their disposal, it is important that the individual that has been injured or wronged has a law firm with the financial wherewithal and resources to hold the wrongdoer accountable.  Because of the financial wherewithal of PFLAW and the ‘team approach’, it allows me to have the same, if not better, resources than the insurance companies have, which in return allows me to thoroughly investigate a case and retain the best experts in the world so that justice is obtained,” says Shawn.

The team approach has been a successful formula for Shawn and has allowed him to have a diverse litigation practice. Shawn has represented individuals injured by the negligence and fraud of others throughout the world.  Mr. Foster has represented plaintiffs residing in 46 states and Canada.

 Shawn’s zealous representation of his clients has been noticed by some of the most respected judges in the United States.  Shawn has been selected by federal judges, to serve on steering committees in some of the nation’s largest litigation efforts.  Shawn’s appointments by the federal bench include serving on the Plaintiffs’ Steering Committee in the Vioxx MDL Litigation and serving on the Plaintiffs’ Discovery Committee in the In Re: Bextra And Celebrex Marketing Sales Practices And Product Liability Litigation.

Shawn’s cases have been discussed through dozens of broadcast, print and online news outlets across the country.  Shawn has seen landmark success so far in his career.  Mr. Foster verdicts and settlements have consistently been included in the year-end best in Missouri lists.
