I have spent a lifetime giving voice to the voiceless and speaking truth to power. For much of my professional life, I was a newspaper journalist in St. Louis and in California, serving as the public's watchdog of government and the courts. After earning my law degree, I worked for the Missouri Public Defender System, fighting for the rights of my indigent clients in some of the state's poorest counties.
