Terrible Law Firm

Terrible communication, spoke with him maybe twice in a matter of having him hired for 6 months. Constantly continues the case w/o speaking to client. Never showed or spoke of motions filed by other party. Continuously sends bills but gets nothing done in court nor cares about the children involved i...n the case. Would not recommend at all.

An expensive waste of time

Never got done what I requested since day one. For my child support be lowered because I don’t make the same money as I once did. I shouldn’t have let him stay on the case as long as I did but he assured me after every meeting it was going to be lowered. I continue to struggle to pay the bills in my ...house now with a family of 3 while he sends me bills about the nothing he proceeds to do. Would not recommend. Very bad at communication as well.

Don't waste your time

I hired Michael based on a recommendation-what a mistake. If your are reading this...let me save your some time. I spent $5000 for no results and ended up hiring another attorney. I HATE that I have to write this review and I gave Michael plenty of opportunities to earn his reputation but he consiste...ntly underperformed. Let me start with his communication...terrible. Numerous emails, phone calls, etc went unanswered and status updates on my case consisted of me badgering his office for info. What he did promise/communicate on strategy on my case was all talk and no action. Any finally, and pay attention, here...after finally doing my research on attorneys (SHAME ON ME), Michael's standing in the family law community is laughable at best...any strong lawyer would love to oppose him. Do yourself a favor...spend your money wisely and hire anyone else besides him. His work is sloppy, his office is shoddy, and his reputation is, well, have I said enough...?

NIGHTMARE

This was the worse thing I could have done was to hire this atty. No communication for up t 3 weeks some times. No facts or discovery was done correctly they waited a month and a half to file my divorce so my ex beat me to the punch...I had not alot to fight over either and I am still cleaning up his... mess with another attorney...awful..office girl brittany...even worse...don't do it!

Dad for the win

I don't normally review people or business's for that matter. But in this instance I feel the urge to get a good word out there. I'm a recent client of Michael Swanson. I went through a separation and decided I wanted more time with my son than the mother was willing to allow. After consulting with ...several attorneys and spending money that could of of been used elsewhere I found M. Swanson. To make a long story short he exceeded all of my expectations from the consultation to the advice, strategy and overall representation. Not to mention he is way more affordable than most others. When all was said and done (in a very timely manner) I was given 50/50 custody and visitation. I couldn't be happier!

Relationship: Worked together on matter

"Its hard to pick worked together, opposing counsel, or supervised this lawyer, because I have done all 3. When Michael first started as a State's Attorney in Child Support, he was all open ears. I wasn't a supervisor, but I ensured he got to see litigation from a private attorney's point of view. He asked intelligent questions and worked to make his end of the practice better. After he left the State's Attorney's office, Michael has taken these to his clients. He does not sugar coat things for them. He has taken mediations for me, worked with me on a few matters and been my opposing counsel. He treats his clients, his opposing counsel and the people in mediation respectfully, kindly and ethically. He works hard to ensure he getting the right settlement for his client. Best of all, he will settle a case, thinking of his client first, the kids caught in the case, and but rarely his own financial gain. He is a tough, smart and good lawyer."
