Jason graduated from the University of Illinois College of Law in 2004. He holds a Bachelors of Arts in Government from Cornell University, where he concentrated his studies in the law and its effects on public policy, economics, and other disciplines. He is licensed to practice in the State of Illinois as well as the federal courts.
Jason began his career as an Illinois Assistant States Attorney has brought his extensive trial experience to his foreclosure practice, having represented clients in more than 40 Illinois counties and having conducted hundreds of trials across the state.
After incorporating Residential Real Estate into his practice in 2008, Jason transitioned to personal bankruptcy and foreclosure defense, helping hundreds of homeowners keep their homes during the impending mortgage foreclosure crash. In his bankruptcy practice, he has handled more than 1,000 cases, many of which were born out of a desire to save the consumers' homes. Jason has returned to a residential real estate practice and now incorporated his additional experience as a licensed real estate broker after joining Dream Town Realty in 2017.
The Van Hemert Law firm is poised to, once again, come to the aid of those homewowners struggling to retain their home after the harsh economic effects of the pandemic.

Jason helped us with a unique real estate situation when we were threatened with a law suit. He went above and beyond our expectations.

Mr. Van Hemert did not advise me on the legal consequences bankruptcy would have for my future. I went to him with a certain goal in mind, and instead of advising me on what the best option was to achieve that goal, he did whatever I could afford without informing me that it wouldn't achieve my ultim...
It is my belief that this post has been created by a third-party, which I did not directly represent. This poster was not privy to all strategy conveyed to my client in obtaining the client's goals, particularly when it comes to those things the client was responsible for and outside my control. (For instance, a failure to secure employment, with no qualified means to afford a mortgage payment, will make a loan modification impossible and will prevent any further efforts to save a home on my part and is, obviously, outside of my control.) It is regrettable that my client, through no fault of my own, was unable to complete the steps necessary for me to assist them in achieving their stated goals. It is equally regrettable that the poster has resorted to expressing their own frustrations (and prior inaction) in this forum in a matter that calls into question my ability to represent my clients with the utmost excellence and professionalism.
