Johnetta G. Paye

Ms. Paye is a skilled litigator, who has represented clients in a broad array of complex litigation disputes. She has represented clients in several copyright infringement disputes and in a breach of contract action against JP Morgan Chase Bank, securing large and favorable settlements. Ms. Paye represented a concert promoter in a breach of contract case against Latino Grammy award winning artist Elvis Crespo. Her range of litigation experience includes copyright infringement, breach of contract and commercial real estate disputes.

Ms. Paye has handled transactional matters for private and corporate clients across a variety of industries. She works extensively with screenwriters to form business entities and draft film contracts. She negotiates record and development recording deals for musicians. Ms. Paye also drafts partnership, sponsorship and operating agreements for several small businesses.

Before opening J. Paye & Associates, Ms. Paye worked in the Senate office of former Illinois Senator Barack Obama. She also worked in the corporate legal department at Tribune Company, honing her knowledge of copyright, trademark, corporate, and regulatory law. Through her work experience at CNN, she deepened her knowledge of the news and entertainment industries.

Johnetta is committed to giving back to the community. She is a junior board member for Chicago International Film Festival.  She is also a volunteer resume coach for the Jewish Vocational Society
