Trusted her advise and lost over a decade before finding lawyer who really knew immigration laws.

Came to SohYoon over a decade ago while still living in Chicago. Asked about dual citizenship with Germany and was told by her I had to give up my German citizenship to become an American. ABSOLUTELY WRONG! A simple filing with the German government would have allowed me to move forward, but I heeded... her advise. Finally made it happen as a dual citizen in Philadelphia with a knowledgeable immigration attorney (Ralf Wiedemann). That lost decade plus kept me from being able to bring my father to America for the medical treatment and support he required. It also cost me extra fees and hassle with a green card and travel. An attorney should admit up front when they are only competent to handle a niche group. Will never forgive her for time and monies wasted.

Dear Joannis, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience, even though it dates back over a decade ago. We deeply regret hearing about the challenges and frustration you faced in your pursuit of dual citizenship. Our focus and expertise lie specifically in US immigration law, and we do not offer services on foreign law, including matters of citizenship in countries like Germany. It seems from your message that you did not engage our services for your case, but we want to ensure clarity about the scope of our practice for future clients. We understand the complexities and nuances of legal matters, especially those involving multiple countries, and we always aim to direct individuals to the right resources or experts when their needs are outside our area of specialization. We are truly sorry to hear about the misunderstanding and any inconvenience this may have caused. It is encouraging to learn that you have since achieved your goal of dual citizenship in Philadelphia. Please feel free to reach out if there is anything we can assist you with within our area of practice. Your feedback is valuable to us, and we are committed to continuous improvement in providing the best possible service.

Great immigration lawyer.

Hired SohYoi. For my permanent residency status. Very proactive and reassuring. If I had any concerns and she couldn’t answer my question straight away she would get back to me promptly. Very knowledgeable with her work. I also like how she gives back to the community.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
