Schaeve Law Office often advises its business clients on the legal issues involved with corporations, contracts, intellectual property, employment, insurance, litigation, and business succession planning. The firm often serves its real estate and construction clients by representing them in mechanics lien foreclosure suits, in the purchase or sale of real estate, in mortgage foreclosure suits, in land development projects, in property damage suits and in condominium board administration and litigation. Mark Schaeve authored Chapter 8 of the 2014 edition of “Mechanics Liens in Illinois” published by the Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education (“IICLE”).
Prior to starting Schaeve Law Office in 2012, Mark Schaeve worked as a trial attorney for Chicago law firms representing businesses in various types of lawsuits and arbitrations. He started Schaeve Law Office in 2012 to better meet his clients’ needs for legal counsel in contractual transactions and regulatory compliance, as well as in litigation matters. During his time as a trial attorney, he second-chaired trials involving claims ranging from trucking negligence to breach of contract and fiduciary duty stemming from the dissolution of an LLC. He also has experience arbitrating matters and litigating in administrative venues such as the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office’s Trademark Trials and Appeals Board.
Mr. Schaeve graduated cum laude in 2006 from The John Marshall Law School, where he served as Student Publications Editor for The John Marshall Law Review. He graduated from Illinois State University in 2002 with a B.S. in political science.
Schaeve Law Office believes that it is important to give back to the community. Mr. Schaeve has represented clients with economic hardships on a pro bono basis in family law matters, including a contested divorce trial and as court-appointed guardian ad litem in an adult guardianship case involving an intellectually disabled person.
