With a legal career spanning more than 35 years, attorney Mitchell S. Sexner has dedicated his professional life to representing individuals and families facing difficult legal circumstances. He is the founder of Sexner Injury Lawyers LLC and Mitchell S. Sexner & Associates LLC, with a practice history dating back to 1990. Over the course of his career, Mr. Sexner and his legal team have represented more than 25,000 clients and obtained over $100 million in settlements and jury verdicts for injured individuals and their families.
A lifelong resident of the Chicago metropolitan area, Mr. Sexner earned his undergraduate degree from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, before receiving his law degree from Chicago-Kent College of Law. His legal career began as a prosecutor with the Cook County State's Attorney's Office, where he gained extensive courtroom experience handling thousands of criminal and traffic prosecutions, . His responsibilities included conducting trials, evaluating evidence, preparing cases for litigation, and assisting fellow prosecutors with complex legal issues. This early experience provided a strong foundation in trial advocacy, investigation, and courtroom procedure.
In 1990, Mr. Sexner established his private law practice, initially serving clients in Chicago's northwest suburbs before expanding into Chicago and across the country. His legal work has encompassed a broad range of civil and criminal matters, providing him with an unusually diverse perspective on litigation and the legal system.
Today, a major focus of his practice is helping people who have suffered serious injuries because of medical negligence, motor vehicle collisions, unsafe conditions, and other wrongful conduct. Through Sexner Injury Lawyers LLC, he represents clients in matters involving medical malpractice, birth injuries, brain and spinal cord injuries, nursing home abuse and neglect, wrongful death, and other serious personal injury claims. These matters illustrate the firm's experience pursuing complex claims involving devastating injuries and significant long-term consequences.
Beyond his private practice, Mr. Sexner has worked with the Illinois Secretary of State and the Office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court of Cook County. He has also appeared as a television and cable commentator discussing legal issues of public concern. He is admitted to the Federal Trial Bar and has been admitted to practice before federal district courts in multiple jurisdictions.
