Tzu-Kai obtained his Master of Laws (LL.M.) in 2002 and Juris Doctor from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2005. Tzu-Kai was the first Taiwanese law scholar to be admitted into the Juris Doctor program at the University of Illinois.
Tzu-Kai concentrates his immigration law practices on a great variety of areas in both family and employment based petitions. Tzu-Kai has successfully obtained approvals of various employment related visas, specifically B-1, E-1, E-2, E-3, H-1B, L-1A, L-1B and TN, for his corporate and private clients. Mr. Lo also represents employers in their permanent labor certification applications (PERM) and assists foreign nationals to adjust their status to that of a permanent resident under the EB-1, EB-2 and EB-3 preference.
Tzu-Kai represents individual clients for family/marriage based petitions, K-1/K-3 visa and naturalization applications. In addition, Tzu-Kai has successfully responded to the USCIS Service Centers' Request for Evidence (RFE), Notice of Intent to Deny (NOID), and Notice of Intent to Revoke (NOIR), and further convinced the Service Centers to approve or reaffirm the underlying visa petitions. He has also filed numerous appeals with Board of Alien Labor Certifications Appeals (BALCA). Tzu-Kai also prepares Waivers of Inadmissibility for clients who have been found ineligible to enter the U.S., and Mandamus Actions and Petitions for Hearing.
Tzu-Kai has also represented same sex couples on a variety of nonimmigrant and immigrant petitions. He has been an advocate for marriage equality for same sex couples in the US and has assisted corporations to create inclusive immigration practices and employee handbooks.
Because of his fluency in Chinese, Taiwanese and English, Tzu-Kai has been retained to translate official legal documents into and from Chinese, and often serves as a contemporaneous translator in both legal and informal proceedings.
Tzu-Kai is admitted to the Supreme Court of Illinois and U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. Mr. Lo is an active member of the American Immigration Lawyer Association (AILA) and the Chicago Bar Association (CBA).
Tzu-Kai was selected for inclusion on 2010 - 2013 Illinois Rising Stars list, which features outstanding young lawyers in the State of Illinois
