I needed to adjust my status from "out of status" to a permanent resident in the United States. I found Mike Baker by researching immigration lawyers in Internet. I filed for a adjust of status from Illegal immigrant to permanent resident back in Summer 2006, I saw a couple of Attorney's back then and they were too expensive so I decided to filed myself with help of an Immigration Counseling Org. My case was denied on fall 2008 due to multiple reasons, one of ...them back in winter 2001 I had a felony. I was devastated because I made a new life with a decent income, married with a newborn, etc. INS gave 30 days to reconsider......I google Attorneys and called at least 7 Attorney's in the Chicagoland area. Although I had a valid green card for 10 years, I was hesitant to apply for Citizenship due to a prior "misdemeanor sex crime arrest" (which classifies under the definition of "crime of moral torpitude" subject to potential deportation).
