Achieved More Than I Expected
I retained Caffarelli & Associates to represent me in my action against my former employer, where I served as general counsel, and against its chief executive officer personally. Over the course of the approximately two years Alex Caffarelli represented me, it became very clear that he knows his way around employment law. As a practicing lawyer for more than 40 years, I was surely not the easiest client to deal with, but Alex listened, took my comments into account, was respectful and responsive - almost always the same day. My expectations in arbitration were not that great against my former employer that was represented by a large law firm, but my award exceeded $1 million, including all the penalties available to me under Illinois employment law. By no means was this result assured or even likely. Alex handled the two day hearing very well, and our post-hearing briefs were timely filed and persuasive. I've hired and worked with many lawyers in my time and know very well how to evaluate them, and Alex is right that at the top of the list.

The BEST decision I made this year
I have many experiences dealing with attorneys over a variety of situations. Hands down Mr. Caffarelli is the BEST. From the beginning of the process to the final negotiations Mr. Caffarelli was professional, respectful and very helpful in guiding me through the labor laws in Chicago. Coming from a place of “starting over” I stand on a solid foundation thanks to the settlement and excellent work he did representing me. My case may only represent a small factor in what I am sure is a very busy office so I also wish to acknowledge his excellent team. Every phone call, email or inquiry was treated with courtesy and professionalism equal to Mr. Caffarelli’s delivery. My case was handled with fast and efficient case management. None of the long periods of silence or any of the other typical delays when dealing with attorneys. Thank you again.

Great attorney!
Mr. Caffarelli assisted me through a horrible experience with a former employer who fought me every step of the lawsuit process. His professionalism, knowledge, and work ethic showed that it is possible for a single individual (myself) can get justice even against a large company. He walked me through every step of the process from depositions to trial to settlement with a positive outcome at each step. I would recommend him to anyone with a need for an attorney.

A Calm, Reassuring, Knowledgeable and Tenacious Counsel
I had always enjoyed an upwards trajectory on my career path. With a change in CEO (I had gone through two other CEO changes prior to this with no career disruption), I was suddenly informed that my resignation was requested immediately and my severance rights, clearly written in HR policy and always followed by the company, were not going to be honored. No cause issues at all. I was referred to Alex for assistance; he dropped everything and helped me through those first few grueling days, providing guidance, counsel, reassurance and legal expertise that resulted in the company honoring the severance agreements within HR policy. Several months later the new CEO again tried to bully me into a resignation again, and Alex stepped in and protected me once again. The company is now honoring the severance agreement written in HR policy. I've learned over the years that a good lawyer not only knows the law, but knows how to read the individual situation and acts as counselor and advisor as well. Alex is all of those. He's not only a great lawyer and counselor, but I've made a new friend along the way. I've recommended him to several of my associates who have since found themselves in similar situations with the new CEO....imagine that, I'm not the only one!

Client Review
Mr. Cafferelli was very professional, yet friendly on our first meeting. He listened to me and asked questions, then explained how things would work in my case. Even though my case probably wasn't that big of a deal for him, he never treated me like it was frivolous. If you are looking for a great attorney, then this is the fellow to see.

No need to look further
Mr. Caffarelli kept me informed about everything. Any time I called or emailed him I always received a response that day or the next. I would go back to him if I needed a lawyer again. The staff was also wonderful. Everybody was so nice and explained everyting to me so I could understand it. I was so nervous and they all & Mr. Caffarelli made me feel comfortable. I can't thank them enough for what they did.

Theres not enough stars for my overall rating!!!
Until i met Alex i thought it was normal to have to make 3 phone calls to ask a question that was 1/2 answered! Every call i made he took and answered every question i had. He even called me or e-mailed me with updates every step of the way. Not only was alex extremely helpful, the rest of his staff were just as plesant to work with. I have and will continue to recomend him and his firm to everyone i know. Personally i think he deserves more than 5 stars and i'm not one to boast about someone that does a job that hes paid to do!!

A Courageous deffender
Losing one’s job can be a very traumatic experience, the aftermath is often even more challenging, finding a new job or reinventing our careers. All of this while dealing with rejection the one that comes from prospecting employers when we cannot clearly articulate why we were left go, how to explain unfairness in one sentence? To the indifferent and cold world of the legal firms, whose rejection go from just plaining ignoring our calls or responding with stiff letters printed in expensive stationary, making excuses why our case was not good enough for them, when the hidden reason may be that they didn’t want to compromise future opportunities or were afraid of going after the heart of the empire. Then it comes Alejandro and his team, they are fearless and principled. They are also knowledgeable of the law and ethical on their practice. They not only listen with empathy but will tell you where you realistically stand, and when the always longer than expected legal process is undergoing they will take the time to timely respond to your inquiries in the most professional way. You better call them.

Does not live up to his reputation
I recommend potential minority clients to seek another counsel. Mr. Caffarelli did not represent our interests: He did not file motions when we asked, gave up sensitive information during discovery and underperformed during depositions. He handled our case so badly, we are even considering filing a malpractice lawsuit.
Response from Alejandro Caffarelli June 3, 2019
This former client has wisely chosen to remain anonymous. As attorneys, we are ethically bound not to file motions that we deem to be frivolous, ask deposition questions that are irrelevant or meant to harass a witness, or conceal relevant discovery from an opposing party. Unfortunately, this client requested that we do all of the above, which along with reaching the conclusion that the case lacked merit led us to terminate the representation. Clients might not always like what we have to say, but we will always give them our honest advice. We are proud to be aggressive advocates on behalf of employees, but any potential client who thinks that we will violate our ethical duties to further his or her case should seek counsel elsewhere.
