Mr. Sylke was hired by both sides in a dispute to render judgment in an Early Neutral Evaluation (ENE), a venue meant to bypass the delays and cost of a regular trial. The ENE was, essentially, a mini-trial that took several months and cost me close to $80,000; one presumes that it cost the other par...ty as much. At the ENE’s conclusion, Mr. Sylke declined to make a decision, but did offer to provide further “consulting services” at over $500 hour. Then, both parties started over from scratch with a regular trial, of regular length (1.5 years) and expense (over $200,000 for each side). At the end of the regular trial I wanted to appeal but, by then, my life’s savings had been exhausted.
