Matthew Elster concentrates his practice in the area of civil appellate litigation. He has experience representing business and family law clients both throughout the appeals process and in all stages of litigation.
Mr. Elster currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Appellate Lawyers Association and is a regular contributor to Cases Pending, its quarterly catalogue of cases pending before the Illinois Supreme Court.
Mr. Elster joined Beermann Pritikin Mirabelli Swerdlove LLP, in 2012, after serving as a law clerk to the Honorable Joseph Gordon of the First District Appellate Court, where he drafted numerous judicial decisions in all areas of the law, including divorce and custody matters, business and contract disputes, personal injury, professional liability, evidentiary issues, and criminal law.
Mr. Elster graduated cum laude from Notre Dame Law School, where he served as the executive editor of the Journal of Legislation, represented local clients facing mortgage foreclosure at the Notre Dame Legal Aid Clinic, and fought in the university’s annual Bengal Bouts boxing tournament.
