A partner in the firm, John Eggum concentrates his practice on insurance coverage disputes and commercial litigation. With respect to insurance coverage matters, Mr. Eggum is regularly retained in a wide range of property and casualty commercial lines disputes, and has represented insurance companies in property coverage litigation (fire, wind, hail, collapse, etc...), inland marine matters, and liability coverage litigation (including mass tort, products claims, cyber/technology liability, and professional liability claims). He also represents both private and public companies (including financial institutions) in commercial disputes around the country. Mr. Eggum is also frequently retained by insurers, banks, and other creditors to provide representation in insolvency and bankruptcy proceedings.
Education. Mr. Eggum earned his undergraduate degrees, a B.B.A. in Finance and a B.A. in Political Science, from The University of Iowa in 2005 and his J.D. degree with distinction, from The University of Iowa College of Law in 2008.
Professional Associations. Mr. Eggum is a member of the Board of Directors of the Illinois Association of Defense Trial Counsel (IDC). For several years, Mr. Eggum served as an appointed Investigator for the Judicial Evaluation Committee of the Chicago Bar Association.
Honors and Awards. Mr. Eggum earned the “Rising Star” designation in 2016, 2017, and 2018 as awarded by Law and Politics. Only 2.5% of the total attorneys under the age of 40 in the State of Illinois earn this designation.
Mr. Eggum has been recognized by the Leading Lawyer Division of the Law Bulletin Publishing Company as an “Emerging Lawyer,” a distinction conferred upon no more than 2% of Illinois lawyers.
Mr. Eggum is also a recipient of the American Bankruptcy Institute’s Medal of Excellence.
