Reconnecting with my grandson

My grandson was taken from Ireland to Chicago by his mother, following the suicide of his father. Although I already had a court order for access in Ireland the mother denied me all contact with the child for ten months. I now have zoom access twice a week. These lawyers were very diligent, caring an...d empathic and I would highly recommend them

If you have any serious issues to defend against hire someone more experienced and versed

She blamed me for the proceedings not going in my favor. The only calls I received were about "her bills" She never spoke up in court and allowed the process to rule racking up the bills that I was unable to pay. I did tell her I was out of money. She never gave me the option to go pro se which wo...uld have saved my house as she and the children's attorney have both sued me. My kids are back, my family intact but now I have no money to support them as I pay for my home a second time to cover excessive and attorney fees.

Best Decision I Could Have EVER made!

Going through a Divorce was hard enough, but the best decision I could have ever made was hiring Debra! She fought every step of the way for me and my children, and I am forever grateful to her. She knows the law, knows how to make things happen, and got me what I needed. I would recommend her to any...one, except my ex-wife. If you are looking to retain a lawyer, hurry and get her before your Ex does first. Unfortunately my divorce got ugly and Debra was able to keep things civil, and worked with the attorneys in order to make sure that everything was facilitated properly. I am not one to write reviews like this, but I hope this helps someone in serious need of legal assistance.

compassionate, personable, very helpful

I met with Ms DiMaggio when I first moved to Chicago to seek legal counsel about child custody matters. She welcomed me into her office, and spoke to me at length about my circumstances. She advised me NOT to seek custody modification, even though that meant obviously not hiring her. A year later my ...situation changed and I decided to pursue sole custody. Ms DiMaggio remembered my case, even though I had met with her only once, and took my case. Throughout the process she was kind, compassionate, supportive and helpful. I highly recommend her.

Worst attorney I have ever used

I used Debra for a custody matter. She was never prepared for court. She never addressed the case personally but used an extremely inexperienced associate who took 14 drafts to complete a three paragraph letter. I had to fire her and retain new attorneys to get the case wrapped up.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
