I have to disagree with previous reviews. We hired Chris for a custody issue. He was very upfront and honest and even advised us that some motions were unneccessary and would rack n up costs. He did his best to minimize costs and motions. Sometimes he was difficult to get ahold of. But, all lawyers a...re at some point. He did a great job and would recommend hin to anyone.

Utilized services from Self & Russelburg (specifically Chris Russelburg) on 3 occasions all pertaining to relationship with former martial partner & custody matters. All I can say is having experience with other attorneys, there is a world of difference. You want someone to be on your team not just... representing you and you want to be told what to expect at every turn. In each matter he assisted in a professional and successfully manner. Personally I do not have the belief the other comments made herein concerning Chris are as a factual as they may portend but even so, there is no doubt Chris is the first person I will call in future about any legal needs as I trust him to get me what I need and found his personality the right fit.

I went to see Mr. Russelburg concerning a change of custody between me and my daughter's mother. He wanted to go into court and file motion after motion in order to get custody taken away from my daughter's mother and given to me. This was not bad, as that IS the reason I came to see him. 2500 ret...ainer fee and a 50 dollar filing fee to get the process started. I understand lawyers are not cheap, but being somebody who is attending school and not as financially as well off as Chris, I had some concerns and questions. One question was if he had any idea how long this would be drawn out. At 250 dollars an hour 2500 dollars can go pretty quickly. During the last visit with him, my parents accompanied me. I explained to Chris that my daughter's mother had decided to give custody to me without a need to fight it out in court. I explained that my ex-girlfriend and I had come to an agreement, and then asked him how much he would charge to sit down with us both and draw up paperwork. Chris pretended to be so concerned about my daughter. He asked what it was that me and my ex had come to an agreement about. In my opinion, that wasn't his concern. If two parties can come to an agreement, without the need for a lengthy and expensive court battle, that should be looked at as a good thing. I asked SEVERAL times "how much would you charge to sit down and meet with me and my ex and write up a fair document that we both mutually agree on". He wouldn't answer the question. Just kept telling me we should go in for this, and go in for that, and file a motion for this, and file a motion for that. ALL OF IT WAS UNNECESSARY!!!
