I hired a contractor to complete a large amount of work on my fixer-upper house I had purchased, which was also my first home purchase. The contractor I hired not only butchered the work he was performing, but he was further damaging my home, and did not even pass any inspections with my county! We h...ad a contract signed for around $43,000. I called him over to discuss my concerns with his work, and he walked out on me! I ultimately terminated him due to his unprofessionalism and poor work. He filed a lien on my home so no other contractor or myself could touch it to continue the work on my home, and I couldn’t sell it considering! I was recently let go from my job of 5 years, and was offered a severance package from my former company.
