Kevin was a pleasure to work with and was very diligent. I was in a two year divorce/custody battle with a person who just wanted to drag everything out. I was introduced to Mr. McHugh through Robert Klein's practice in the Elgin area. From the start I realized Mr. McHugh was highly competent both in strategy and working with complex problems. He has an effective way of cutting through the confusion. This is the kind of attorney you want on your side. My situation was very complicated due to the nature of my employment and level of income (which was at risk of being ransacked by a bitter ex-spouse). Kevin let me know where the statues and law stood on these matters and helped lead the process through to the final stages keeping the other side in check. "Thank you Kevin" does not say enough. I was 18 facing federal charges and my previous attorneys had not been able to make the U.S. Attorneys' Office budge on the sentencing recommendation. Kevin took the time to know me and my situation, and then advocate to both the prosecutors and to the Judge. ... After a long process, Kevin was even able to convince the probation department that an irregular sentence was appropriate in my case. Instead of 2 1/2 to 3 years on each of the 18 counts, the Judge sentenced me to 12 weekends at the Metropolitan Correctional Center. However, that was not the end of Kevin's help. When most attorneys would walk away because the case was "done" Kevin remained by my side. The MCC did not want to house me due to my medical condition, and the prosecutor was again asking for long-term confinement. Kevin skillfully negotiated and convinced the Judge to allow home confinement. Thank you again and again Kevin!
