This case started a while back w/ a different Lawyer. I was treated like a horrible father by my now ex, ex’s lawyer, the judge, and even my own lawyer. I didn’t realize how bad my lawyer was until someone told me to drop him and suggested I go with Mr. Podgorny. Boy can I tell you that was the best advice anyone had ever given to me ever. Mr. Podgorny treated me with respect and made me realize that I was a father that had rights. I went from being able to see my kids for one weekend a month to getting full custody. FULL CUSTODY. I couldn’t believe it, I guess I was just put down so much by my ex, her lawyer the judge and even my own lawyer that I didn’t realize I was the more fit parent. It wasn’t until Mr. Podgorny not only illuminated my rights but talked to me as a person and made me realize that I am a good father and that my ex was not only not a good mother, but not mentally fit to raise our children. I’ll leave it at that, but I will say that had it not been for Mr. Podgorny, I don’t know if I would’ve ever really been able to see my kids again, and even more so if they would be safe. Right now we have a happy family, my kids and I. I highly recommend Mr. Podgorny. My kids are the best thing that have ever happened to me, and Mr. James A. Podgorny saved me and my happiness. I couldn’t recommend him more!
Pod has been my lawyer for the past 15yrs , not only has he had my best interest at heart, but my children as well. He is compassionate and has superior knowledge of the law! Hands down the BEST lawyer ever!!!!!!!!
James A. Podgorny is a sole practicing attorney, which means he will be the only attorney you will deal with at the firm. You will not be shuffled amongst many associates who will not necessarily know the current status of your case, as is commonly found in large law firms. His practice area's include: Family Law, Paternity, Divorce, Domestic Violence, Orders of Protection, Real Estate Closings, Civil Litigation, and Personal Injury.

Kind and compassionate and very knowledgeable
Throughout my divorce and after, Jim always suggested ways to handle the case and was straight forward with me. For some this may not be important but he was always kind, compassionate and understanding with what was going on in this very difficult time for me. He was very knowledgeable with case law and always presented our case professionally. He does his homework and it shows. I’ve referred him to a couple of people with everyone having a similar experience as I did.

Excellent Divorce Attorney
I hired attorney Podgorny for my divorce. He was very understanding of my financial situation and reduced his rate from $350.00 per hour to $200.00 per hour. He kept me up to date on all matters and even let me know when it was necessary or not necessary for me to be in court. He carefully explained his strategy toward the case and was even accurate in stating we would "win some of the battles and lose some of the battles of the case, but the idea was to win the overall war." He was always prompt to court, knew the law and remained professional in and out of the court room. When the case was finished, he kept his word and refunded the unused money in my retainer. I highly recommend him.

Life changer
He helped me to get my daughter out of a terrible situation with an unstable mother. He kept me informed of things that were happening. I'm glad I switched from Jeffery Leving's office, who has a terrible staff working for him, to Mr. Podgorny's office. Mr.Podgorny really cared about what happened with my daughter. He's a nice guy.

attentive to detail
Have used Mr. Podgorny on a few matters. He is professional and courteous. He remembers what the goal is and is interested in the case.
He has always kept me well-informed and accomplished the task needed.

The Most accurate view of this lawyer.
Some of these other reviews were done by people with a personal problem toward Jim and I know this for a fact it was an attempt to attack his reputation because they lost a case against him..... my case was handled fairly well he helped me get a good settlement and was fair and efficient about it..... ignore the lesser reviews as they are attempts to degrade his reputation. He was a good lawyer for me and even took 10% more of his share off of the settlement to give it to me which proves he is not in it for the money. he was patient and even with my fumbling around he managed to still win the case with minimal but adequate evidence backing it as I could not retrieve it all my self. He is a good lawyer in my opinion.

worst attorney ever!!!
This guy is terrible. He screwed up my divorce so bad that I had to fire him in court and find myself a more competent attorney. That was easy since nobody is as bad as he is. All he was worried about is his retainer. Every time we go to court things were just getting worse. When I asked him why, he tells me that's the way the judge decided. Most of the time things were handled in the chamber of the court room and I had no clue what is going on in there. Jim always came out with more bad news until I hired the new attorney and things were turning around for me. Best move I ever made in my 4 year divorce. Turned out great for me!
