Steven Jay Brody

My wife and I were victims of the 2008 housing industry collapse. We retained Steven Brody to represent us throughout the course of our foreclosure proceedings. Since 2015, I have worked with two different divorce attorneys, and met five different divorce attorneys who represented my ex-husband. Through these experiences, Attorney Brody stands out in ways I found very important to me as a client. He is dedicated and often works seven days a week. (I just ...met with him today, on a Saturday morning, at 8:00 A.M..) Attorney Brody is smart and savvy--an important, rare distinction. He knows the law, but he also reads people well, and he knows the correct approach to take to achieve outcomes. He is the perfect balance between street smart and book smart. The trait that also left an impression is his humility; he's a genuine, down-to-earth kind of guy. He won't pepper you with "lawyer talk" to make you feel intimidated or that he's better than you. He doesn't judge. Rather, he is a straight-talker who may not always tell you what you want to hear, but he'll tell you the truth so that he can best help you. He is unconventional, for sure, but I admire that. He is not about to change himself to fit into the stereotype of a family attorney. He does things the way he feels are right and honest whether that is inline with tortoise-shell horned-rimmed glasses attorney stereotypes or not. Yes, his office is filled with piles of papers as some clients have mentioned. Be careful not to misjudge him for this. He knows where things are, and I personally take the piles as a good sign. They mean he is often hired because he is talented. The piles mean that he is busy. The last thing I want as a client is an attorney to have a clean office because that they aren't being hired or means he or she is using precious time on things other than the clients. Attorney Brody doesn't waste his time like this for the simple sake of having an office that may or may not impress you. He cares more for working for you than working to impress you. Just because it's not a system that works for the particular clients who wrote those statements in their reviews, doesn't mean it doesn't work for Attorney Brody. I hired Steve to handle a very difficult custody situation. Two of my three children were living with their mother who neglected both their medical care and schooling. One of my children has a significant medical condition that requires daily medication which he often refused to take. My ex-wife d...id not force him to take the medication which ended upon in our son being hospitalized. My ex-wife also let them miss school often because she did not want to force them to go which resulted in many failed classes. Steve took charge, filed the appropriate petitions and had a great guardian ad litem appointed. I got primary residential placement of both of my younger children who are now performing very well in school and my son with the medical condition is now taking his medication daily which has caused his health to improve dramatically. Steve’s representation was essential in removing my children from a bad situation and placing them in my care.

I had a difficult situation with my son at his school. A friend recommended that I call Mr. Brody and I am so happy I did. Mr. Brody jumped right in and fought hard for my son. He kept me advised almost daily as the matter progressed and made a made a very stressful situation tolerable. Very quic...kly the school board backed down and we reached a reasonable resolution at a minimal cost. Mr. Brody was definitely the right attorney for me and my son.

I retained Steve represent me in my divorce. He was able to negotiate a 50/50 custody arrangement with my ex-wife. I now have my daughters every other week. When my ex-wife wanted more child support we went to hearing. Unfortunately the judge ruled in her favor and doubled my child support. Stev...e appealed the judge’s child support decision and the appellate court overturned the increased child support award. We are now looking forward to getting my support reduced back to its previous levels and getting a refund of the excess amounts I was forced to pay. I don’t believe this could have been done without Steve’s knowledge and ability.
