John Randal Kopp

I have never had to use a lawyer for anything except for closing on a house or a will, so this was my first experience for what I consider something more serious. John was the perfect choice. He helped me understand my circumstances, and what my choices might be and what he thought was the best actio...n to take. He returned my phone calls immediately. I was very happy with John and the outcome of my case.

My husband and I retained Mr. Kopp for a major traffic offense. Thank God no one was injured or died. But the offense carried serious charges. I work with law enforcement and one of the Police Officers I spoke to told me to get a lawyer "a good one". Needless to say I spoke with several and only ...got promising comments from one. After taking a day to decide to retain him (not mentioning his name) due to his high retainer fee. I went by his office to retain him. His office was closed even though. it was a normal business day and hours. I called him several times with no return call. I became desperate and contacted a large Chicago firm (not mentioning their name) that deals with traffic court. After being directed to one of their lawyers, he told me that they could take my case but since it was last minute (2 days to court). It would be better for a local lawyer to handle it. I told him I talked to several but didn't find one I felt comfortable with. He referred me to Mr. Kopp I asked if he was good because I was facing serious charges. He told me that he wouldn't recommend him if he wasn't. I called the number that day, Saturday he returned my call right away. I told him what I was dealing with. He took the case and briefed me before court. He was inexpensive, cordial and direct. He told me basically what the fines and charges would be, which would be devastating to my career. Basically I would lose my job of 28 years. (I drove past a school bus unloading. I felt I was past the point of return when the bus stopped and instead of stopping just past the stop arm. I kept driving. I know stupid, but at the time it sound reasonable in my head, I was out of the way of kids if they wanted to cross the street.) I was guilty but wasn't ready to face the penalties Mr. Kopp continued my case for a month. Just before the month was up, my husband and I met with Mr. Kopp. I explained again what happened. He told me that in these type of cases the penalties were made severe due to people blowing past school buses and emergency vehicles too often, which poses a big risk to the community, plus the advocacy groups pushed hard to get harsher penalties for offenders. Mr. Kopp then asked my husband and I about our personal and family life. (he didn't rush us at all) He then had an idea for me to gather several articles of information along with a letter from him to present to the D. A. at court. In the letter I admitted guilt, plus volunteered to pay whatever fines the court deemed necessary, do community service for however long the court deemed necessary and take a defensive driving classes instead of losing my license for 3 months. Mr. Kopp warned me that this has been done several times before and the percentages were not in my favor. But I had a lot to lose and so I believe for me it was worth a try. He presented the info to the local D.A. and the head D. A. my case was continued again for another month. It worked! when I went back to court I received an alternative sentence which was still pretty bad, but I got to keep my license, and the fines were pretty reasonable as well. Thank you Jesus for Mr. Kopp. I told my friend that is the Police Officer at work about my outcome, he was totally impressed. My husband, my friend and I all highly recommend Mr. Kopp, He is definitely better than good!

Mr. Kopp helped us out tremendously with our speeding ticket. Going into the situation I and my family were a bit nervous. After contacting Mr. Kopp and speaking with him about the situation I felt much more at ease. He was able to move up the court date to a reasonable time slot and bartered on my h...alf to reduce the ticket as much as possible. Overall the experience turned out the best way I could have hoped for and I would definitely Reccomend Mr. Kopp to anyone having a similiar problem as I did.
