People v. Jose S.
Jun 27, 2017OUTCOME: Not Guilty on All Counts
My client was charged with domestic battery. He came to me very upset about not just the possible criminal penalty, but also the possibility of deportation from the United States. I believed his story ... and the facts supported that he was not guilty. I gave him the option of taking his case before a judge or a jury- he chose to proceed with a jury trial. The prosecution's case was strong, but ours was stronger. I argued that their witness was not believable based on her previous statements to the police. The jury deliberated for about 3 hours and returned a verdict of "not guilty" as to all charges. My client was satisfied that the justice system had worked in his favor, when so many times it fails to work for those who are accused.
