Brian earned his Bachelor's degree in English literature from the University of Michigan in 1997, where he also became fluent in Spanish.  He then attended law school at the University of Illinois College of Law.  He graduated in 1997 and became licensed to practice law that same year.

Brian began working at a prominent defense firm in Chicago where he focused on mass tort and medical malpractice cases.  Those included asbestos, latex glove and Fen-Phen cases.

Brian then joined a Plantiff’s law firm in 1999 where he quickly rose to partner. He spent more than sixteen years at that firm where his practice was devoted solely to the areas of medical malpractice, nursing home and catastrophic personal injury matters. During that time, Brian was instrumental in obtaining several multi-million dollar verdicts and settlements for his clients. Those included a $17.3 million settlement for a woman hit by a bus, a $17 million settlement for a person hit by a car in her driveway, a $7 million settlement for a newborn baby who was given an overdose of medication in the hospital, a $4.8 million verdict for a woman whose surgeon committed medical malpractice, a $4.25 million settlement for a baby due to medical negligence, a $1.75 million settlement for a man who was dropped in a hopsital and suffered a mild brain injury, and a $1.2 million settlement/verdict for a seventy-three year old man whose doctors committed malpractice.

Brian is an active member of the Lake County Bar Association. He is currently the Second Vice President of the organization and will take over as President in 2018.  In 2012 he was first elected to the Board of Directors and in 2015 he was elected to the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors. He is the chairman of the Civil Trial and Appeals Committee for the Bar Association and frequently gives presentations on trial topics and issues.

Brian is nationally recognized for his high-tech approach to streamlining trials with technology and was featured in the American Bar Association’s Law Practice Journal for his technologically-advanced trial work. Brian regularly gives presentations to lawyers, paralegals, and law students.

Brian is a member of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association where he serves on the Board of Advocates. He is also a member of the Illinois State Bar Association and American Association for Justice.

Brian helped me through the most devastating time in my life.
Brian Lewis is an excellent attorney. After I was involved in a life-threatening motorcycle accident, a friend introduced me to Brian and his law firm. Brian is highly respected for his personal injury work. He is also the President of the Lake County Bar Association. Brian's main office is located in Waukegan which is in Lake County, but he handles cases all over. I live near Joliet and my case was in Will County. Brian is professional and compassionate. He helped me through a difficult time in my life and I couldn't be more appreciative of what he did for me.

Glad to have worked with Brian
After an unfortunate accident out of state, I was referred to Brian. Although only having met Brian once, he was always professional and courteous, he answered any questions I had and never made me feel as though I had no idea as though what was going on. I would highly recommend Brian.

After an unfortunate accident we were directed to this law firm by an acquaintance. So glad we had Brian on our side. Mr Lewis is very professional and thorough. His office staff is also outstanding. If you are considering hiring a personal injury lawyer, I highly recommend him.

Dad's injury
About three years ago, my father suffered an injury while being hospitalized. It was not only traumatic to him, it was extremely devastating to me and my family. Upon inquiring about the situation, the hospital in which he suffered the injury was non-compliant and almost secretive when asked about the injury. I become worried and sought advise on this particular situation. I found Brian Lewis through a good friend and from the beginning, Brian was concerned and caring toward everything. I immediately trusted him and he went to work. Three years and many depositions and experts advice and testimony after we were able to put this to a close and settle. Now I am happy to know that my father will be taken care of and I know it's because of Mr. Lewis' hard work.

Lazy and no communication
I hired Brian after being involved in a car accident in an Uber in 2019 in downtown Chicago that left me permanently injured. He left the firm he was with when I first hired him and went out on his own. Instead of staying with that firm which I should have done, I allowed him to take my case files with him which turned out to be a massive mistake. Everything began fine but when Uber put up the slightest bit of resistance he immediately tried pushing me for a very low settlement offer that didn’t even cover my medical bills. During the slow down from the pandemic, he totally disappeared on me and only responded to me reaching out to him after multiple requests. When I changed counsel, he delayed sending over the case file multiple times. He also decided to copy my new attorney and their paralegal on a very snarky unprofessional email that he sent to me yesterday. I wasn’t going to leave him a bad review anywhere until he did that. Brian obviously saw the case initially as a layup where he can get paid a large sum and then when it turned out that it was going to require some actual work he didn’t want to do that. I would avoid using him if you are reading this. I am actually considering filing a complaint against him with the bar association due to his unprofessional actions and his breach of a responsibility to me as a client.
