Honest when other attorney's are not
Dwayne was my second attorney during my divorce. I initially retained the Fathers' Rights attorney who is all over TV and radio in Chicagoland. Fathers' Rights don't exist. It's a marketing gimmick that preys on the higher wage earner which is usually the father. When I interviewed Dway...

Amazing!
Mr. Douglas has been my attorney for post-decree matters for 10 years. Watching him in the courtroom, amazes me to this day. His professional, knowledgeable and calm demeanor is by far the best combination when dealing with family matters. He has always been honest and given the best advice on wha...

Below Average
Agree with some of the negative reviews. I switched lawyers since Dwayne was a really good salesman and came across as representing me to my advantage. I regretted switching since I think I would have ended up better with the first lawyer. He didn't have time for me and I had to repeat constantly and...
Sometimes, even if a question appears to be simple, it is not, and complicated questions require complicated answers. Also, an experienced attorney knows that at times one cannot make guarantees regarding the anticipated result, but the best path forward is to work to pick the best strategy given the law and the facts and move forward to work to achieve the desired result.

Accomplished Nothing
I hired Dwayne for a divorce case. He seemed good and knowledgeable at the onset however over the course of a year he lost nearly every motion that was filed and I finally switched counsel, wish I did months prior. His initial ballpark estimates of costs were unrealistic and far from what he ended ...
Total fees depend upon, in part, the efforts involved in responding to the opposing party, so as a result, overall fees unfortunately cannot be predicted in advance. Out of necessity, conferences and calls during weekdays are scheduled with start and stop times, typically within 30-60 minutes windows, but if more time is needed, arrangements are made. During such conferences or calls, it is sometimes more cost effective to discuss facts from the client’s recollection rather than bill the client to time-consumingly review hundreds or thousands of pages of documents for the information, and as a divorce is a legal proceeding, such conferences and calls can at times require long, complicated discussions. Judges sometimes will not agree with a client’s position, and it is frustrating of course, especially if a client has firmly held beliefs that are contrary to the judge’s views, but with consultation, collaboration, and preparation, matters can be put before the court for consideration, and positive results can be and are realized in case after case.

No attorney-client relationship
Mr. Douglas is a good attorney and knowledgeable. But he seems overloaded and would need "refreshers" from me to explain my case and details over and over while being charged by the hour. I felt like I had to ask for things to be done and he wasn't looking for ways to protect me from possible outcome...
I appreciate the opening comment, and for any contested hearing or trial it is important to confer with the client or witness to confirm the facts, to prepare for testimony, and to ensure that circumstances have not changed since prior conversations.
"Mr Douglas and I were on opposite sides of a divorce case. He represented his client well and was professional throughout. If you are looking for a terrific divorce lawyer out in Lake County, I would highly recommend Dwayne Douglas"
