A founding member and managing partner of Buttitta Law Group, LLC, Dominic heads the litigation practice, handling both criminal and civil cases. Dominic started his legal career in 2008 as an Assistant State's Attorney at the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, Criminal Appeals Division, and quickly accelerated his prosecutorial career when he was appointed as an Assistant State’s Attorney with the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office in 2010. While representing the People of the State of Illinois as an Assistant State’s Attorney, Dominic worked in the traffic, misdemeanor trial, felony review, and felony trial divisions, trying over fifty (50) cases to verdict before judge or jury.
In addition to handling misdemeanor and felony trial work, Dominic has further honed his litigation skills by actively representing clients in the Family Law and Child Custody arena. Dominic has been consistently recognized as an Illinois Super Lawyer, an Emerging Lawyer, and a Top 100 Trial Attorney in the areas of Divorce/Child Custody and Criminal Defense since 2017. Dominic has also been actively involved in the yearly assessment of statutory changes relating to both the Illinois Dissolution of Marriage Act as well as the DUI statute since 2015. As a Criminal Defense Attorney, and Family Law Attorney, Dominic can poudly state that he has tried well over one-hundred (100) cases to verdict before a judge or jury, making him profient to handle any matter brought to his office.
Dominic is uniquely qualified to handle a variety of legal disputes and strives to approach every case in a bold, aggressive, innovative, and no-nonsense fashion. He makes it his mission to hold his opponents to their burden, whether it is proof beyond a reasonable doubt in a criminal case or proof by a preponderance of the evidence or clear and convicing evidence involving a civil dispute.
Dominic hails from a family of attorneys, including his two sisters, Angela Buttitta and Dominique Buttitta, who practice law in Chicago in the areas of Family Law and Estate Planning respectively. For Dominic and his family, practicing law isn’t just a career, it’s a way of life.
