Probation Termination 11 years early!

I was sentenced to 21 years probation in 2004. I realized I had changed in the last ten years and wanted my past behind me. I hired Mat Stevenson to represent me and I could not be happier! Mat and his top notch legal representation of me, was able to get the last eleven years of my probation dropp...ed. He is an amazing lawyer that gets the job done at a reasonable price.

My case dismissed

I was incarcerated in the Ravalli County Jail without ever seeing a judge. The Public Defender I had never ever came to see me and even made me miss a court date. I was incarcerated for 73 days without ever seeing a judge. I hired Mat Stevenson, he asked for an immediate hearing and he got my no bond... hold lifted and after posting $5000 I was released the very next day after hiring him. I am so pleased with the work Mat did on my case. He petitioned to have my revocation dismissed, which the judge granted. I was looking at five years DOC and Mat kept that from happening. I really feel Mat is one of the best attorneys I have ever met or seen in a court. He really cares about his clients and works very hard on their behalf. If I hadn't hired Mat I could possibly be doing 5 years in prison, not only did that NOT happen but he got everything dismissed and I didn't even lose my 2 years paper time. Mat is the best and I would recommend him to anyone needing a attorney. He truly works miracles for his clients.

Lucky I was referred to Matt

Very satisfied with the out come of my court case. Matt effectively had my charges reduced with minimal fines imposed and most importantly no jail time. I'm from out of state and was allowed to return home based on his efforts at my first court date which had originally been set for October, my accid...ent happened in early August, but due to my circumstances was moved by Matt to the third week in August so I could leave ASAP. Anyone who has to retain a lawyer for whatever reason, or is a first timer like I was, knows how stressful it can be but he really made this as painless as possible and over with in a timely manner. I'll just reiterate again how happy I am with Matt and the results of my case. Thank you , HL

No Prison

I was charged with a very serious felony in Ravalli County, Montana in 2007. I have a minor criminal history and the two other lawyers I interviewed told me I would definitely be going to prison. I hired Mat Stevenson because he was extremely confident that he could get me a sentence that would not r...esult in me going to prison. My charges were reduced and I ended up with time served about (2 months) and probation. I hope that I am never in any trouble again but if I need a lawyer Mat would be my first choice.

I felt like My life was at Rock Bottom when I had initialy consulted with Mat, Before my first case was over I even hired him 2X

Then things got even worse, in one case, which had appeared a pretty open and shut case, He ended up never attempting to fight the case and the prosecutor had changed the plea deal in the last minute, consequently doubling my already unusually harsh jail sentence, fines, fees and disappointment. The ...next case was much more important considering I was facing a felony. He had me thoroughly convinced we could get dropped to a misdemeanor. So when he told me that even if I had gotten it dropped to a DUI, it would be my 3rd charge resulting in a felony either way. Well as Montana's codes and statutes apply, Interestingly enough, it turns out it is in fact 4 Consecutive DUI's which constitutes a Felony. So I ended up getting a felony when I had expected a DUI, and got an extra long sentence for a min. cutoff THC DUI... This case occurred in 2013, and sadly enough I'm still on paper after getting my probation revoked. I chose to let the state appoint me a Public Defender in that case, I've been fairly pleased with him overall, next time I've already decided ill be the one to represent my corporate fiction.

Dear Anonymous, I am sorry that you were displeased with how things turned out. Sentence enhancements for voluminous DUI convictions are very punishing, but its best to remember that your attorneys (including your public defender) are not responsible for the felony enhancements that are required, under the law (for multiple offenders). I have been very successful (VERY SUCCESSFUL) in getting felony DUI allegations reduced to misdemeanors, based on legal technicalities. However, no defense attorney is going to win that type of argument, every time. I wish the argument had worked out, in your case. Good luck to you in the future. Mat Stevenson

  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
