I am an attorney in Bismarck, North Dakota with 23 years experience in criminal law as both a prosecutor and defense attorney.
I've handled thousands of criminal cases and have tried hundreds of cases to jury verdict in all areas of criminal law-DUI cases, sex cases, drug offenses, property and white collar crimes, and violent crimes including homicides. I've argued dozens of appeals to the North Dakota Supreme Court, and am licensed in North Dakota state court, the United States District Court for the District of North Dakota, and the United States Supreme Court. I have served on the North Dakota Supreme Court Joint Procedures Committee and currently serve on the Advisory Commission on Electronic Media in the Courtroom, and the State Bar Association Legislative Committee. I teach Criminal Procedure and Criminal Law at the University of Mary in Bismarck and Use of Force and Criminal Law at the ND Law Enforcement Training Academy.
My wealth of experience in criminal law on both the prosecution and defense side of cases gives me a unique insight into each case. Having built criminal cases from the ground up has taught me how to break them down, to make sure each and every client gets the best representation possible and is treated fairly by the legal system.
The system labels those charged with crimes as "suspects", "the accused", or "defendants". You need a compassionate, experienced, dedicated lawyer on your side who will remind the system that these cases are about real people, not labels. That is what you will get with me, pure and simple. Call today for a free consultation. I look forward to visiting with you about how I can help in your case.

Best attorney in North Dakota !!!!!!
He was the best attorney I’ve ever used. He was very responsive and thorough. Mr suhr won my drug possession case. I had 4 felonies and he got the whole thing dropped because the police officer took too long during the stop. Best 7k I’ve ever spent in my life! Thanks me suhr.

Treated well by him and his office, he dug I’m and got it done for us.
I was falsely accused of a serious matter. I’d thought it was so unbelievable that I would never be charged. A short time after the accusations, I started searching for legal help in case I needed it. Lloyd’s office staff treated me with compassion and respect. When charges did come about months lat...

Best Lawyer
Best lawyer there is. Works hard for his clients, and cares about them. He was down to earth. I felt like he was on top of everything. If I would ever need a lawyer again he would be my only choice.

Knowledgeable and Understanding!
When we hired Lloyd he was very understanding of our situation. Lloyd was very easy to get in contact with when we needed to discuss things with him. He was very knowledgeable in the process we would be going through and he gave sound advice that would give our family the best possible outcome. Every...
"I've worked with Lloyd as a fellow prosecutor and thereafter in the private practice arena. I can personally attest to his legal acumen and excellent trial skills. His ability to connect with jurors and advocate for his clients is unmatched, and I would rank Lloyd as one of the best trial lawyers in the state."
"Lloyd volunteered with the North Dakota State Bar Association to serve as a mentor to a rookie attorney, and I had the good fortune to be paired with him. Lloyd's detailed knowledge of criminal law is downright intimidating, as many local lawyers can attest. His guidance has been extremely helpful to my fledgling practice, and I frequently turn to him for advice."
"Mr. Suhr was my supervising attorney when we worked together. He is a walking encyclopedia of the criminal law. He has the knowledge and skill to help anyone with their problems."
