There are times when clients have unreasonable expectations that attorneys cannot change no matter how much they wish they could. It is difficult to hear information one does not want to hear. Clients sometimes want to blame their attorney for things that have happened in their lives, and that is unfortunate for everyone involved. Attorney/client privilege protects clients' information from being made public for good reasons although it prohibits attorneys from correcting misinformation. I wish I could fix the heading of this post - Public Defenders do not represent clients in family matters. They only represent clients in certain criminal and juvenile matters. If you are looking for a family law attorney, please don't contact your local Public Defender's office as they cannot help you as my former client thinks. I want to correct this misstatement so folks don't go in the wrong direction for information. I wish this former client of mine, who is posting under a false name, the best. Hopefully she has successfully made her way through her divorce trial and case with some positive closure. Jessica Sterle
