Kenneth David Suzan

Kenneth D. Suzan is of counsel in Barnes & Thornburg LLP's Minneapolis, Minnesota, office and is a member of the firm's Intellectual Property Department.

Mr. Suzan has experience in the areas of trademark law, copyright law, Internet law, social media law, domain names, and service mark matters. He has counseled his clients on a variety of issues ranging from the inception of a trademark to ultimate registration, licensing and enforcement. Mr. Suzan counsels and assists wearable technology companies to protect brand names through trademark, copyright and domain name filings. He also performs trademark clearance searches for mobile application names and logos. Mr. Suzan has also worked with an expansive network of associates worldwide on trademark clearance, licensing and litigation matters.

Prior to joining Barnes & Thornburg, Mr. Suzan served as a partner at Hodgson Russ LLP in Buffalo, New York, where he managed a worldwide docket of trademark and service mark applications and registrations, prosecuted and defended trademark opposition and cancellation proceedings, handled multiple federal trademark litigation matters, and advised and counseled clients on all facets of trademark issues. In addition, Mr. Suzan has also served as a senior associate for Fulbright & Jaworski, L.L.P., and as an associate for Gibney, Anthony & Flaherty, LLP.

Mr. Suzan earned his J.D., cum laude, from Albany Law School of Union University in 1996, where he served as managing editor of lead articles for the Albany Law Journal of Science & Technology. Mr. Suzan also earned his LL.M. in Trade Regulation (Intellectual Property) from New York University School of Law in 1998 and his B.A. magna cum laude from the University of Rochester in 1993.

Active in the community, Mr. Suzan served as past president of the Buffalo Arts Studio in Buffalo, New York, and is a member of the board of advisors for the Intellectual Property Counselor.
