Biased, cannot follow his own “procedure”

I’ll give him a minute to start doing his Job before I add details. Until then, 1 star. Marty does not follow his “process”, shows bias, and refuses to discuss anything, he actually just promised a meeting, just to skip it last minute. Like I said, he can’t even follow his “process”. He also doesn’t ...work Fridays. He treats your life/parenting issues as a part time Job, and the effort he puts in does not reflect what he charges. Marty, your job involves children, and their relationship with their parents. Quit treating this like a semi retirement gig. You either need to be fully there or you need to accept you cannot be available enough to be an effective parenting consultant. (Parenting is a 24-7 job, parenting does not and will never wait on your schedule.)

Excellent. Integrity and used time wisely

It says something for Mr. Swaden that 8 years after my divorce, I still recommend him highly and am taking the time to write this review. I divorced (with children) in a relatively high-net worth case that could have been horrible. There were complicated assets to divide, a high-powered spouse on... the other end, stay-at-home me, and children's best interests to be considered. At our initial consultation, he listened to my snapshot of the situation, asked smart questions, and named a retainer amount that was reasonable and reflected that he was not out to gouge me based on the knowledge that I had the pockets to afford a lengthy fight. He used my time and his so wisely. In short, my matter was resolved out of court, between the two attorneys and me and my ex. No mediation, no time in court. He did not throw gas on the flames. I have heard horror stories about women (sorry ladies but it's true) having attorneys who scare them, peeve their soon-to-be ex's and just run up the hours and the bill. He took a rotten situation and made me feel I had the finest outcome with the least amount of emotional carnage. That's really saying something. I can't recommend him highly enough. (PS: It asks how many lawyers I've worked with below. Marty was the only divorce attorney. But I use attorneys for estate and tax etc..).

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
