abrasive, poor quality work, refused to return retainer as required by law

I hired Eric for a license issue. I was very specific in my instructions to be conciliatory and contrite, and to express my understanding that I had mad an error in judgement and that I was willing to work with the board. He provided a bombastic, hyperbolic, and overly hostile toned letter that sho...wed no understanding of my situation, and in which he felt he could take liberties with the truth and just make up stuff. He had put off this until the very last minute so I have no choice but to fix it myself, in spite of me asking him for an update. I had to rewrite the letter (it took me less than an hour) and I informed him that his services were no longer required. He became very hostile, said that he was not going to return my $4000 retainer as he felt that the matter w/ the board was resolved (it took over a year with an experienced and savvy lawyer. who also charged me less). I told him that he was welcome to keep a few hundred bucks for the 15 minutes or so he spent dashing off the letter. He was abusive in tone, told me that the only way I could ever get my money back was to sue him and that I would have a hard time getting a lawyer if I sued him. He was unprofessional, abusive, and unpleasant.

Different case

If you have a case that's different from the others. He won't listen to you. He just does what is supposed to do.

Best attorney I could have found

Eric was excellent and without him I would have been in big trouble. He understood the issues and was immediately available to form a defense plan and guided me through the meeting and my case was dismissed. Sometimes other people take full advantage of you and want to harm you. You need an attorney ...to protect you against all the false accusations.

Consummate Professional

It was a terrible accident when our child fell. We reacted quickly taking her to the hospital. She had cracked skull. We were besides ourselves! The possibility of loosing our 8 month old to an accident was wrenching. As the parent present I took responsibility for, well, not being perfect. She fell.... She was a baby. It is my fault. At the hospital everyone was so caring... until just before checkout when three employees came to me and began to ask me about that "take responsibility" thing. I thought nothing about telling the truth again and we went home. Days later I got a call from DFS. THEY DEMANDED to speak with me stating unequivocally that I could not be in the house until they spoke to me (no court order- just their saying it). I knew enough to get a lawyer and a good one. First we called some dink in Blaine who was happy to take my $1000.00 and essentially do not a damn thing. Finally we contacted Erik. His first words to me when I mentioned the attorney that I'd hired, "Who?" These attorney knew each other but this guy was just a hack. At the meeting I stated what happened exactly as I had before. There was the DFS person and a "dectective". Erik sat there. He let them carry on. Then he would redirect the conversation and remind them that he was present and I was duly represented. Then they introduced some "statement" that they would not say where it came from. Erik stepped right in and restated the legal facts that negated and reason for furthering the proceedings. When he left he told me as much. IF YOU ARE HAVING A PROBLEM WITH DFS overly exerting their supposed authority get representation and get it from an attorney like Erik!
