I was in a one car accident, I took my eyes off the road for a moment to look at my navigation unit and ran onto the shoulder of the highway. I panicked and over compensated turning back on the road and veered left and rolled over and then over the guard rail. I have spinal stenosis and have been on ...three pain pills a day for about six years. I had drank way to much coffee that day on my trip and between that and being really shook up from the accident I was really shaking badly. My bottle of pain pills had flown out of my purse and landed outside of the vehicle. The police noticed that I was shaking and then found the pills laying on the ground outside of the vehicle. They charged me with improper lane usage and DUI, and took me in for a blood test, which when the results came back showing that I had taken my pills as instructed. The DA was apparently new there and was determined to follow through with charging me. It appeared that I was going to have to go through a jury trial and spend a lot more money and hire an expert witness to testify in my behalf. A couple weeks later Jeremiah called me and told me he had gotten the judge to throw out the DUI, and I would just have to pay the improper lane usage ticket. I was so relieved as this case had been hanging over my head for over a year. I also live about three hours away from Baraboo and only had to make one trip there to hire the lawyer which was also a relief. Just when I thought the outcome could not be any better, about an hour or so after Jeremiah first call, he called back to let me know that they were dropping the improper lane usage charge as well!
