Foreclosure 90%

I do foreclosure defense and loan modification litigation. I like to represent homeowners BEFORE the bank has started a foreclosure. For example, I see homeowners who have had their modification approved, only to have the mortgage servicer refuse to honor the deal. Some clients have waited so long for the modification process to end, that they wind up too far behind to pay even the modified loan. My partner and I also defend foreclosure cases in certain situations.

Debt Collection 10%

I represent people who are being pressured to pay debts they have already paid or to pay the wrong amount. The public needs protection from debt collectors because companies sell accounts, including ones that have been paid or discharged in bankruptcy, and the buyer tries to collect from all of the accounts, no matter whether the person even owes a debt. In other cases, people make arrangements to bring their debts current, only to have their property repossessed anyway.

Foreclosure / Escrow Fraud

Susan LaCava is such an advocate for the home owner! When my bank tried to grab my house with an escrow scam, Susan’s skill and experience made a huge difference when negotiating a settlement. She knows when to push hard and when to settle. She saved my home. And, while this was an extremely stressfu...l time, I must admit that it was amusing to watch her train the pompous corporate attorney that worked for the bank.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
