I hired John as an out of state, complex Dui client. Facing my 4th, with much to lose, I began my fight by hiring the TOP in the state, believing him to be the best with the outstanding record he had, only to quickly learn I was bottom of the totem pole and my life or death case, truly meant nothing... to him., So I moved on to hire supposedly the best in the state for appeals. knowing my case had many errors I was hoping she would be able to help BEFORE appeal stage. but again I was faced with learning, my case, and the courts timelines were not of importance,...but thru this all I was lucky enough to encounter John and though he was not my lawyer at the time, HE made a difference in my case. He fought my DMV adminastrative hearing and won. As time went on and the stress grew as well as my hefty lawyer bills, I started feeling like there was NO hope. I started to believe there was not a lawyer out there that truly cared for my best interest. but as the days went on and everything started coming to a close, my thoughts kept going to John. The guy who won my hearing, that many believed to be a "lost cause" or "Just a part of the procedure, where I could not win". I do not know f it was his knowledge, his positive attitude or his drive but I found myself thinking, I want HIM. It did not matter that he was not considered the TOP, or that he was a rookie compared to the others. What mattered is that HE made a difference. HE seemed to care, so I seeked him out. And though the case was well under way and he would now be my 3rd lawyer, he didn't seem to care. He took my case. And I must say, it was my smartest move yet. His quick, honest replies instantly gave me comfort. His smile and positive attitude brought back my hope and his genuinely caring nature gave me back the confidence I had when all this started. So to say I recommend him is an understatement! I would sway anyone who believes the most known, or most expensive is best, into believing that truly is not the case. Sometimes it truly is the underdog who prevails. And though I am not completely out of the woods, I do believe I have the best man hiking with me. Personally I think John is the best.

My son was convicted of an OWI in Dane county while waiting form me to pick him up when is car ran out of gas. He blew a .09. With John's help he was charged with the the OWI and also with a suspended license! He received the full sentence and had to pay about $4000.00 between lawyer fees and court... cost. He was 18 years old and this was his first offense which has scarred him for life. I now believe a better option would have been to take our chances without a lawyer. Yes, John was very understanding and treated him more like a friend than a client but failed to provide a reasonalbe doubt. My son blew a .09 and even the officer said he did not seem under the influence. John did argue the point that these test are not always accurate but failed to provide examples where these test have failed. It was just his word against the prosecuters. I am not a lawyer but in such a case I think it would have been the defenses responsibility to demonstrate reasonable doubt not just argue the point. My coworker was telling me that her son (19), just got picked up for his 2nd DUI and a suspended license. Went to court and all he received was a fine and longer suspension on his license. WI has harsh laws for teenagers, they will permanantly ruin a teenagers record, the first time they mess up. But, with others that have already established such a pattern in these type of incidents they seem to be more lenient. What has really happened to our justice system? It's going from bad to worse. On one hand the law in Madison, WI is very strict with teenagers and on the other hand 90% of Madison, WI' entertainment life are bars. This was our first and hopefully last case. We were very worried about what it could do to our son's future. And now all hope is lost. Another teenagers record ruined. I guess councelling and therapy are for repeated offenders. So sad. I am not saying John is a bad lawyer. He was very professional and always returned our calls in a timely manner. He even set up an appointment and worked with us on a saturday. He is very dedicated, honest and upfront. I do personally think he could have provided concrete example's where these blow test and equipment have failed.

John helped me negotiate a first offence OUI. I was pretty stressed out about it and John was great about explaining everything and making the process as painless as possible. He had a better grasp of the sentencing guidelines than the prosecutor or judge in the case. During sentencing the judge sent out an email mid-proceeding to confirm John's interpretation of the statutes on a point that was unclear to him. I probably would have unnecessarily had an ignition lock installed were it not for him. John's staff is friendly and professional, responded to all correspondence promptly and let me know when important dates were coming up. The paralegal working with me on the case left for personal reasons as my case was midway through the court process (left for happy reasons, no drama) and the new one picked things up without missing a beat.
