Emily Bell is a dedicated criminal defense attorney who has spent nearly two decades protecting the rights of individuals facing serious criminal charges throughout Wisconsin. She represents clients in a wide range of criminal matters, with a particular focus on impaired driving cases, including complex OWI litigation involving traffic stops, searches and seizures, chemical testing issues, prior conviction challenges, refusal allegations, and administrative driver's license suspension proceedings.
Attorney Bell has pursued extensive advanced training in forensic science and impaired driving defense. She has received specialized education in blood analysis from the American Chemical Society and in breath-testing science from the National College for Drunk Driving Defense. She also holds certifications in Standardized Field Sobriety Testing and Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement. This training allows her to effectively challenge scientific evidence and advocate for clients at both the pretrial and trial stages of criminal cases.
Beyond OWI defense, Attorney Bell represents individuals charged with drug offenses, domestic violence allegations, violent crimes, weapons offenses, sensitive crimes, and homicide cases. She also assists clients seeking or defending against injunctions and restraining orders.
A seasoned trial lawyer, Attorney Bell has tried dozens of cases before Wisconsin juries and has successfully litigated countless matters through bench trials and extensive pretrial motion practice. Her commitment to criminal defense extends beyond the courtroom. She regularly presents at legal education seminars throughout Wisconsin and has trained attorneys and public defenders on drunk driving defense and trial advocacy.
In recognition of her contributions to the criminal defense community, Attorney Bell received the Wisconsin Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers' Martin Hanson Memorial Prize in 2024.
Attorney Bell earned her Juris Doctor from Marquette University Law School in 2009, following her graduation from Grand Valley State University with degrees in Philosophy and Liberal Studies. She is an active member of the Wisconsin Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the National College for Drunk Driving Defense, the Dane County Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, and the State Bar of Wisconsin's Civil Rights & Liberties Section.

Intelligent, diligent, and highly capable
I haven't worked with Ms. Bell since she moved into the DUI/DWI field, but when she was doing landlord/tenant law, she assisted me with several issues, from modifying a boilerplate lease agreement to advising me on eviction proceedings. She always took pains to explain the issues clearly and thorough...

"I know Emily Bell through our mutual association in the National College for DUI/DWI Defense. She is a rising star in the legal community where she resides and I know she has the dedication necessary for greatness. I have personally witnessed her cross-examination techniques of police officers and would rate them as clearly superior. If I had a family member of loved one in trouble in Wisconson, I would recommend that they contact Emily Bell promptly because time is of the essence in any criminal matter, particulary DUI/DWI . I endorse this lawyer."
